{Professional Polka Dots}

In my professional wardrobe, my choices always lean conservative. DC is a pretty conservative town in terms of dress and in quite a number of offices, business casual means a cardigan instead of a blazer.

A couple of months ago, after quite a bit of internal strife, I donned a pair of {textured tights from Anne Klein} I snagged at DSW for $10 to work…{and have not looked back since}. While my inner voice told me absolutely not and questioned my sanity, I pushed aside my thoughts and you know what? I received numerous compliments on my tights! Take that, inner voice : )

Since my epiphany, I have grown more adventurous in the tights department. Nude and black are still my staples but I am more open to the idea of designs. When {Kate Spade} had their sample sale and I found this pair of polka dotted tights for $12, I knew I had to get them.

Continuing through the Kate Spade sale, I noticed a polka dot Blackberry case. iPhones may reign supreme in the rest of the country but in DC, almost everyone has a Blackberry for work. Ladies, give your big girl job a facelift and protect your Blackberry with an adorable case. If you carry it like an accessory, you should treat it as such, right?

The polka dots on the tights and Blackberry case bring a touch of whimsy to your 9-5 world yet are subtle enough to be professional. How do you bring whimsy into your professional wardrobe?
