Frank and Eileen Daphne Popover Dress Review

Daphne Popover Dress (My exact dress is on sale and available in most sizes!)

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. We are officially in the dog days of summer and more and more often, I’m reaching for the lightest, breeziest dresses in my closet to keep cool and look cool even as I feel like I’m doing my best Wicked Witch of the West impression and am actually, visibly melting.

Hands down, the best dress in my wardrobe during these moments is my Daphne Popover Dress from Frank & Eileen. I had heard about the brand from friends and when their sale came up, I decided to jump in and see for myself.

No surprise here, Frank & Eileen lived up to their name and have become a favorite brand.

Frank and Eileen Daphne Dress Review

About Frank & Eileen

Strong believers in “slow fashion,” Frank & Eileen is a certified woman-owned, woman-led business. They are headquartered in sunny Southern California and named after the Irish grandparents of company founder Audrey.

Audrey was an engineer when she decided to tackle reinventing the button-up and making the closet workhorse for men for hardworking women as well.

Frank & Eileen are the very definition of “easy elegance” and have a great reputation for high-quality, durable pieces that will last you years and multiple trend cycles.

I would definitely consider their pieces, from their signature button-up to their dresses and pants, as investment pieces. But are they worth it?

First Impressions of the Daphne Popover Dress

I ordered the Daphne dress during Frank & Eileen’s annual sale. I was pregnant and searching for an easy, flowy dress to beat the summer heat and to grow with my ever-expanding belly.

Into my cart went the Daphne popover dress in peach, size medium. I chose peach out of the colors on sale because it was a perfect shade of light pink and if Barbie Summer taught me anything, it’s that pink apparel needed to take up more hangers in my closet.

Size medium was a great fit! It cinches in comfortably high on my waist and flows into a maxi-length. The Daphne comes with F&E’s signature henley top, which makes the dress look more polished.

I loved how its linen is lightweight, very high-quality, and not see-through at all. The Daphne is a fantastic “throw on and go” option to have in your closet.

Fit and Sizing

I ordered mine in a medium and that size has worked great for me. I’d say the dress runs a bit on roomy size although I would size up for broader shoulders and a fuller bust. Right now in my postpartum phase, the top is a bit snug for me. While I would consider this popover dress to be maternity-friendly, it’s not nursing-friendly. This is where Frank & Eileen’s button-ups can really shine 🙂

Wearability and Comfort

Like every good linen piece, the Daphne is incredibly breathable and easy to move in throughout the hot, humid day. I’d recommend the popover dress for travel, brunch, or working-from-home.

How I Styled the Daphne Dress

So…Is It Worth It?

Absolutely! It’s certainly an investment, pricetag-wise. The good news is Frank & Eileen are such big believers of “slow fashion,” they have a site called “Reloved.

On Reloved, you can search and purchase gently-loved Frank & Eileen pieces at a marked down price.

If you keep an eye out, Frank & Eileen pieces, including the Daphne popover dress, can be found at Nordstrom Rack.
