Whew, I’m back! My mom and Tommy arrived in DC on Thursday and I don’t think we stopped moving for a second the entire time. Being the saint that she is, my mom helped me tackle an overdue apartment to-do list: Steam cleaning the carpets. Extremely unglamorous but 100% needed, especially since I’ve been in my apartment for THREE years this month. It’s the longest I’ve ever lived in one place since I moved to DC so this is a pretty big deal. My mom and I moved furniture and cleaned the carpets while Tommy “supervised” aka playing games and watching YouTube videos on his iPad. There was a tense moment when I just finished completely cleaning my living room and started on my bedroom when Tommy spilled chocolate milk all over the living room rug. I see the comic element about crying over no spilled milk but at that moment, I was closer to tears than laughter.

But don’t worry, we didn’t spend the weekend shut in my apartment and cleaning like Cinderella, pre-Fairy Godmother. Us Cinderellas, along with our Prince Charming Tommy, got to go to the ball. Otherwise known as Cactus Cantina for our favorite swirl margaritas and veggie fajitas. Here’s where the Cinderella comparison falls apart though because unlike the glass slipper, there was no way we were going to leave the ball without a margarita!

My mom gamely stepped in to be my photographer while, once again, Tommy “supervised.” I’ll give him a promotion, he was the “creative director” for this shoot. Coach sent me their Saddle Bag 23 (Don’t worry – this is affiliate link-free) and it’s become the bag I immediately grab for the weekends. It fits everything I need on the weekend: Wallet, keys, sunglasses, phone, headphones and lipstick. I try to keep it simple and give myself a break from Monday-Friday when I’m lugging everything around in my work tote. Its rich burgundy color is the perfect shade to add some color into your winter wardrobe. I also love its unexpected color detail on inside (Scroll down to see it). Though DC’s winter has been pretty mild (Did I just jinx it?!) as you can tell by the Sperrys and vest with a long sleeve tee. But hey, gotta take advantage of warmer temperatures when you can!

Speaking of warmer temperatures, I really decided to lean in and break out my white jeans for the first time in forever. Talbots white jeans became my favorite this summer (As evidenced here + here) and are currently on sale!! It’s a built-in excuse to break the rules and wear white after Labor Day. AND wear white jeans to a Mexican restaurant. What can I say? I like to live dangerously.
