Styling a Graphic Tee

I think the last time I wore a graphic tee was 2008. Remember owning all those snarky graphic tees from American Eagle, Aeropostale, Hollister, etc? I grew up in a suburb and actually enjoyed my AP history and literature classes. Snarky and edgy I was not 😂

Flash forward to several weeks ago when I walked into J.Crew in Georgetown for my fun summer style event – and the first thing that caught my eye was this “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” graphic tee. I loved the colors, the font, and, I mean, you know I can’t resist a good pun! Or a bad pun, for that matter.

Originally I planned to tuck this shirt into a pair of white jeans and toss on my white Sperry sneakers. But with humidity on full blast, I opted instead for my breezy eyelet skirt.

Life Lately

Reading: I just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I LOVED it!!! It was exactly what I needed after reading two blah books in a row. The book chronicles the marriages of the world’s most famous movie star, Evelyn Hugo, as her star rises in Hollywood. I pictured Evelyn as an Elizabeth Taylor-esque star in the Golden Age of Hollywood. If you’re looking for a book to pick up this weekend, I highly recommend this one. I promise you won’t want to put it down!

Eating: Lately, my favorite thing to make for dinner is tuna salad. I go through phases with tuna where I either crave it or can’t stomach it. Here’s my simple recipe: 1 can of tuna, 1/2 diced shallot, 2 tbsp mayo, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, diced pickle (I love Trader Joe’s hot ‘n spicy dill pickle chips), 1 diced Roma tomato. I put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly. I then serve over chopped butter lettuce. If I’m not super hungry, I’ll make this right when I get home and then let it chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

Traveling: I’m heading to Nashville next weekend to spend the Fourth of July and I’ll for sure be packing my $24 Amazon navy jumpsuit. Actually, I’ll probably wear it for my flight – they’re the closest thing I could wear to PJs in public. Throw on a pashmina and I’m good to go!
