splurge or save: black ballet flats

I am on a shopping hiatus but that hasn’t stopped me from creating a Fall Wish List. At the very top? Black ballet flats. After several years, my J.Crew ballet flats have seen better days and it’s time to put ’em in retirement. Ballet flats, you’ve stuck by my side in rain and shine through fall and winter. We’ll always have DC.

I perused J.Crew to replace my flats but didn’t find anything that could really transition from work to play. While bows can be cute (when done subtly), I can not wear shoes with bows on them to work. Which lead to me perusing Zappos and discovering a terrific pair of flats, exactly what I’ve been looking for. The design struck me as familiar and after a few moments, I knew where I’d seen it before: Tory Burch.

I adore the stacked kitten heel on these shoes, they give the shoe a more elevated, sophisticated look. The gold touch is the icing on the cake for me. I could picture myself wearing these shoes with dark rinse jeans on the weekend just as easily as a sheath dress for Monday through Friday.

In fact, I think I actually like the look of the save more than the splurge. What do you think?

The Steve Madden flats are a knock off the JCrew Janey’s. Almost identical!

Love both of these. I am looking into shoes that are flats that I can wear while working in a lab while still having cute shoes!!!! Both of these are great options!

Dare I say I love the “save” more than the “splurge” too. I’m in need of new flats for this fall too. I love the heel on the Steve Maddens – it definitely makes the shoe.
