In The Trenches

We’re halfway to the weekend, guys!! After the snow days, holidays and days off, a five day work week seems almost impossible. Getting out of bed yesterday was definitely impossible. Between the rain and being insanely sore from going to barre class after not going for almost a week, I just wanted to pull the covers over my head and stay there forever. The main motivation to roll out of bed? Well, besides making sure I arrived at work on time 😉

A blueberry chia smoothie + getting to pull out my bright pink trench coat. I love bright colors any day of the week but especially when it’s less than a sunny day outside. There’s just something incredibly uplifting about wearing hot pink when it’s drab and gray out.

Trench coats are my go-to coat for spring in DC: They look professional and polished, are figure-flattering and are awesome at keeping you warm and dry during DC’s spring monsoons. I really regretted not wearing my rain boots yesterday, my feet were soaked by the time I walked into my office building! It took me awhile to find a trench coat I loved and was the right price point for me. I prefer clean, simple lines and you’d be surprised by how many trench coats I looked through that had all kinds of bells and whistles and pleats (WHY) before I found a khaki trench coat I loved and have worn for almost 5 years. My khaki trench coat is from Banana Republic but sadly they aren’t available right now. That sounded like a voicemail, didn’t it? Keeping with that tone, I’ll be sure to let you know when they’re back 😂

I’ve rounded up a few trench coats that have classic silhouettes and will make both your closet and wallet want to sing in the rain. Bring it on, DC spring!
