Whoever had the genius idea to bring all episodes of The Golden Girls to Hulu, you deserve a raise. Ever since I can remember, I loved sitcoms. Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley on Nick-at-Nite and The Nanny and Will & Grace (Side note: I audibly squealed with glee when I found out NBC is bring it back!) were favorites growing up.
When I arrived at college, The Nanny and Will & Grace became a part of my roommate and my nightly routine. Between classes, internships and campus organizations, Hayley and I spent every day running around campus and the city. Our only real times to see each other were in the morning when we were getting ready and at night. One night maybe a week or two into our first living together (This would be Fall 2009, our sophomore year), we were flipping through the channels in our dorm, her sitting up in her bed and me in mine. We came across The Nanny on Lifetime and we both yelled in excitement. It was a bonding moment for us as new roommates and that hour of watching The Nanny on Lifetime became a nightly occurrence. A time to wind down and crack up at the ridiculous antics and hilarious (though predictable, I admit) punch lines while also catching each other up on our day.
At the end of the day, I love being able to unwind and lose myself in the familiar character and stories of sitcoms. The Golden Girls is a classic that I will watch over and over again. Just like this pineapple tequila cooler is a classic that I’ll make over and over again.
Pineapple juice + simple syrup + tequila = a refreshing cocktail that, like our favorite girls, is golden.
Also, if you’re feeling ambitious for a weeknight, the pineapple tequila cooler goes perfectly with the soy chorizo quinoa tacos. Never too early to start planning Taco Tuesday, right?

Paired with Soy Chorizo Quinoa Tacos
- Ice
- 3 oz tequila
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1 can Trader Joe's Pineapple Juice
- Garnish: Grilled pineapple spear
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into cocktail glass.
- Optional: Garnish with a grilled pineapple spear. I used my George Foreman to grill the pineapple.
