New Year’s Eve Sparkle + Sequin Outfit Ideas

Move over, Christmas plaid! It’s sequins’ time to shine!! Today is my last day at home with my family and I’ll be honest: New Year’s Eve feels like days away to me. The days between Christmas and New Year’s are always a complete blur of leftovers, cookies and wrapping paper to me. If it wasn’t for my planner, phone and, for good measure, Google telling me 2014 is history tomorrow, I wouldn’t believe it.

I’m still finalizing my New Year’s Eve outfit (bad blogger) but I have a pretty solid idea of the look I’m going for. Last summer, in one of my Goodwill deep dives, I discovered a sequin pencil skirt from The Limited for less than $10. CHA-CHING. Since then, my sequin sartorial gem has stayed in the closet just waiting for December 31st to roll around.

Guys have it so easy when it comes to dressing up. Put on a suit or a tux and they look like a million bucks. There isn’t a single guy who doesn’t look instantly dapper the moment they put on a penguin suit. The idea of a tux got me to thinking about creating my own version of the tuxedo look for New Year’s Eve. The lady tux, if you will.
