I’ll be the first to admit it, my nightstand easily becomes cluttered. I have a tendency to drop odds and ends on my nightstand when I arrive home and by the end of the week, I have a small pile next to my bed. I’m getting better at not using my nightstand as a placeholder for my odds and ends, it’s a work-in-progress for me.
Phew, now that we have that out of the way, I wanted to share my simple tips to style your nightstand. It’s most likely the last thing you see before drifting off to sleep so let’s make it beautiful!Bright Light: If you read in bed all the time like I do, a bright table lamp is essential for a nightstand. My lamp is from Target and while it is very simple, you can play around with a fun lamp shade to accent your room’s color palette.
Tray: I adore my tray to keep my jewelry secure and ready to go for the next day. I usually switch earrings and necklaces but typically wear the same bracelets every day so I like having those favorite pieces accessible. Believe it or not, the big tray is actually a picture frame! I would suggest checking out your local Goodwill or thrift stores for a small frame that you could spray paint to give your nightstand a pop of color. I opted for metallic and placed a smaller glass tray (that I already owned) inside. To my delight, it was a perfect fit!
Blooms: I am a sap for a fresh bouquet of flowers! I love having the soft fragrance of the blooms to lull me to sleep and seeing a happy bunch of flowers when you open your eyes is therapeutic. It just really starts my day off on a wonderful note. If you aren’t so entranced with flowers, find a statement piece like a votive candle and fill the holder with colored gems or a clear vase full of seashells you collected on a family trip…think of what best describes your personality and what you’d love to see first thing in the morning!
Books: When stacking books on your nightstand, I have a rule of three. It’s a Goldilocks situation: one book looks misplaced, two books are a good start but three is just right. Look for coffee table hardcovers that share a color palette or theme, continuity counts in style! Don’t feel you have to go to Barnes & Noble to find expensive coffee table books, I discovered the Diana book at a flea market for $3!
Oh and the coaster? I just have a tic when it comes to water rings on counters!
How do you style your nightstand? If you have suggestions for my third book, please let me know : )
