Would you believe me if I told you I snagged this awesome midi in August 2012 for a mere $12? It’s true! I was killing time, waiting for my mother to pick me up from an obscenely early dentist appointment when I decided to walk a couple of blocks and check out some Main Street shops. My beloved Vidler’s five-and-dime was closed but there was a small boutique thrift shop opened so in I went. Now it was August and in my shorts and sandals, Christmas and holiday outfits were about the furthest things from my mind. But the minute I spied this Talbot’s beauty on the rack, I knew it would be my new favorite Christmas piece. A trip to the dressing room + a glance at the price tag followed by another look because I couldn’t believe my eyes (like I said, it was EAR-LY) sealed the deal. Since then, I’ve worn this plaid midi skirt to office holiday events, family Christmas parties and, most recently, a friend’s cookie party.
The sparkly, golden mini plaid are the perfect base to get this holiday look rollin’. Add a sleek, black sweater shell and leave it untucked for a more casual look, the layered circle necklace brings the sparkle (I also love this necklace option). I’m treating leopard as a neutral to amp up the glam factory. And no holiday look would be complete without a red lip! I love Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick because it stays put and costs $5. Christmas music to my ears, am I right?
This look definitely checks off all the holiday glam criteria: Plaid, check. Sparkle, check. Leopard, check. Red lips, double check!
How do you do holiday glam? Do you have a favorite thrifted piece?
