Catching Up – It’s Been Awhile!

Capitol Hill Peony Bush

Hi, hello!

First off, thank you all SO much for your thoughtful and kind comments and DMs about the new site. I am so glad you are all enjoying it as much as I had hoped! It feels like it’s been awhile and I thought we could do a little catching up.

April has been a really hectic month for me between working on the site launch and my new job kicking into high gear. I’m nearly five months into my new job and starting to get pulled more into projects, which is amazing! Working from home has been an adjustment but that could probably be a post on its own.

Oh, probably the BIGGEST news is that our honeymoon is almost here! Our trip has been in the works for what feels like forever that it’s surreal to think it’s actually almost here. With my job search starting right after our wedding last August, we decided to move our honeymoon to spring 2023. I didn’t want to spend our big trip riddled with stress about job applications and needing to set up networking coffees. Thankfully, James is an excellent planner so he’s taken the reins on organizing the trip and handling the small details. Now it’s almost here and I need to get a move on packing!

Besides all of the above – let’s see what else has been going on.

Shopping: With the honeymoon at the very top of my brain, my cart has definitely reflected that. I am really excited about this linen halter neck midi dress for our day spent touring the Vatican and exploring Rome. I’ll add a cardigan to comply with Vatican dress code and I think will be a comfortable outfit to take in all the sights and all the gelato! This straw market tote isn’t coming on the trip but I know I’ll be reaching for it all summer long to head to Eastern Market or weekend trips.

Trader Joe’s Reviewing: Trader Joe’s has come out with some really great new items. I filmed a Trader Joe’s haul this weekend that I’m going to share over on my YouTube page hopefully this week. Their new tangerine probiotic sparkling beverage already is going back on the list to pick up for next time. It tastes to me like an organic soda with natural tangerine flavor. It’s light and refreshing, great for evenings when you would like a fun drink without alcohol.

Cooking: To be honest, lately we’ve been ordering takeout more often than we typically do. Now that the weather is cooperating, the grill is calling our name! We’re going back to our tried ‘n trues – these dishes that just taste better al fresco.

Lounging: Lounging, aka the time I should probably use to think about what to pack for our honeymoon, was honestly really needed after such a busy work week. My Lake Pajamas Weekend Set in Pima cotton is perfect for time on the couch snuggling with Riley. The Pima cotton doesn’t pick up her fur, I swear it’s the only surface in our apartment that doesn’t! I size up to a large from my usual size medium for an extra lounge feel. Lake Pajamas has a matching Kimono Robe in this Sky Floral pattern and it feels so luxuriously soft. I wear my usual size medium in their robes.

Traveling: James and I are heading next weekend to a wedding at a Charlottesville winery! Since we’ll be there overnight, Riley will be staying with her dog walker, who she absolutely adores. I haven’t really spent any time in Charlottesville before, only driven past it on road trips, and I’m excited to do a little exploring.

Reading: I finally started reading The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein. I remember when this book was first published. It came back on my radar a few weeks ago from a podcast and just felt like the right moment to think about intentional living and shifting my mindset.
