Navy Cami // White Jeans (Also loving these white jeans – under $100) // Wicker Purse // Jacks

Happy Tuesday!! I had the best weekend and took full advantage of it being sunny and, more importantly, not raining, spent as much time outdoors as possible. From Union Market on Saturday afternoon to Navy Yard on a lazy Sunday, I was walking all over the city – which is something I happen to love. I must have been a dog in a past life because I love taking a long walk (my friends somewhat tolerate this + have grown skeptical when I enthusiastically suggest we walk somewhere). Anyway, since it’s been awhile and I’m still working on fully getting back into a blogging groove, I think we could break apart today’s post into mini-updates. Let’s ease into the week together. Ready? Let’s go:

Wearing

This Lilly Pulitzer navy cami is my favorite thing to wear on the weekends lately. Pairing it with white jeans is definitely a favorite right now – you can dress it up or down for the occasion. I wore this outfit all day on Saturday – with my gold knot studs during the day and then switching those out for statement earrings at night for a friend’s pre-wedding party. If I was feeling ambitious, I would have swapped my Jacks for heels but alas, it was not meant to be.

So, here’s where we get a little TMI. I had posted another outfit with this navy cami and when I went to go through the photos, I was horrified about how my strapless bra made the cami lay. I debated about not sharing the look at all. I did a little research and found these pasties on Amazon. Guys, these are MAGIC. They do not show at all through thin fabric like silk and give good support. I may break up with my strapless bra permanently.

Reading

Last night, I started reading All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin. I began listening to Bad On Paper Podcast earlier this summer to help me get back into the habit of reading for pleasure – I’m happy to say it’s definitely working! I’m a deadlines kinda of worker (and reader, apparently), I respond best when I’m faced with a deadline. Knowing that the podcast episode for the book will go live on August 8th is the push I need to make sure I carve out time to read and finish the book by the 7th. Next up after All We Ever Wanted is South of Broad by Pat Conroy – to get me in the Charleston mood for my visit in a few weeks!! Not that I need much help in getting excited for Charleston 😂

Eating

With D.C.’s heat wave, I’ve been reluctant to turn on the oven out of fear of spontaneously combusting. So I’ve been experimenting with no-cook meals and lately, I’ve been on a salmon kick. I picked up Trader Joe’s canned Alaskan pink salmon on a complete whim for $3 and it’s been great for a quick meal. I typically get about 2 meals out of 1 can. In a bowl, I whisk together juice of 1/2 lemon, mashed avocado, dried basil, salt and pepper and a teaspoon of dijon mustard until it creates kind of a dressing. Then I add the flaked salmon and toss to combine. The avocado-salmon goes on top of butter lettuce and I call it a meal. Comes together in minutes and won’t make you sweat.

Skincare-ing

I’ll tell you, having Sephora now open next to my beloved Trader Joe’s has been a real exercise in will power and self-restraint. Especially since the Sephora Studio is focused on skincare!! It’s like they’re TRYING to take all my money. Last week, I woke up every day with puffy eyes. Really pretty, I know. Let me tell you, putting on eyeliner with puffy eyelids is a task not for the faint of heart. I’ve been making time in the morning to use a jade roller to reduce inflammation and so far, it’s been doing the trick. It feels like a mini-spa experience and makes me want to get up right when my alarm rings so I’ll have enough time to use the jade roller before I gotta run out the door. I’m planning a more in-depth post on my jade roller so let me know if you have any questions ☺️

Listening

It’s no secret I love podcasts and lately I’ve been mixing it up from my usual true crime/ghost stories podcasts. I mentioned earlier Bad On Paper Podcast, it’s hosted by Grace Atwood from The Stripe and Becca Freeman. These girls alternate episodes between discussing a YA book and answering reader questions and dishing out advice. Grace and Becca are already good friends so listening to Bad On Paper Podcast is like being at brunch with your 2 chatty friends, catching up about good books (or books that are so bad they’re good) and the best face serum they just discovered or offering you advice about how to handle a tricky situation. I highly recommend you give them a listen!

Happy Tuesday 💙
