I like to think my sense of style generally falls under the category of “classic and colorful.” Give me a bright hue and a fun pattern any day of the week or time of the year. But I will say that some things are just better in summer weather – like ice cream sandwiches and the Beach Boys. And vibrant colors are definitely better in the summer sun.
For the last few years, the summer bags I constantly find myself reaching for are my rattan and wicker bags. They’re such a great neutral for summer and the texture adds a fun layer to a summer outfit. My $30 Amazon rattan bag pictured above is still in excellent shape and bonus: it has a zipper closure! I have it in the light beige color. While it does have a long strap option, I usually tuck that inside and wear it over my arm like above.
Sadly, after several years, my wicker bag that I adore because it reminds me of a mini picnic basket needs to be retired. The clasp isn’t as strong as it once was and I worry about my wallet, keys, etc. falling out. I’ve had my eye on this J.McLaughlin Wicker Top Handle as a replacement since I know I’ll get a lot of mileage out of it.
I’m also looking at this rattan clutch purse to wear at summer weddings or on a casual summer date. And I love how the rattan on this purse looks more like caning, alongside its leather details. Can you tell I’m really ready for summer to arrive?!
