Easy Summer Salad Recipe - DC Girl in Pearls #lifestyleblog #lifestyleblogger #summermealideas #summerrecipe

It’s been awhile since the last DC Girl Guide post. Back in January, I asked and you answered for the DC Girl Guide’s favorite podcasts to binge. That feels like just a few weeks ago!

James’ move from North Carolina to the DC area meant my grocery list was going to look quite different, both in items and amount. It’s taken some trial and error but I think I’m finally getting a handle on it. One perk (of many!) is that James brought his truck – along with his Costco membership card. We are still living in a city-sized one-bedroom apartment so we can’t get too crazy with our purchases. But access to Costco for freezer items and buying protein has certainly been helpful in keeping us within our grocery budget.

I hadn’t been to Costco in probably 3+ years so when James suggested the other week we do a Costco run, I once again turned to you guys for help. Walking into Costco without a plan seemed like a great way to spend money on things we didn’t need or have space for! In case you plan to head to Costco this weekend or want to bookmark this page, here’s your list of things to buy at Costco.

P.S. I shared my thoughts on a few of the items I’ve tried from your recommendations.

Favorite Things To Buy at Costco

Pura Vida Fire Roasted Vegetable Melange

Ruprecht Fully Cooked Chicken Shawarma

Avocados

Lemon Juice

Olive Oil

Street Taco Kit: James and I loved this street taco kit!! Not surprised since so many people said this was a must-get. It was amazingly delicious and a very generous amount, I think we got 3 meals out of this? The chicken does come cooked so just know that if you get this item, you’ll want to eat it shortly after purchasing. This kit would be great for a family or an at-home double date night.

S. Pellegrino Sparkling Water Cans

Topo Chico

Taste of the South Fried Pickle and Ranch Dip

Just Bare Chicken Nuggets: This may be my favorite item on the entire list. In fact, James and I had these for dinner last night! Just Bare Chicken Nuggets taste like a Chick-Fil-A dupe and I love how they’re lightly breaded so they don’t weight heavily in your stomach. Perfect to have on-hand for nights when nobody really wants to cook. I love tossing the leftovers in Frank’s Red Hot sauce and putting over greens for a “chicken finger” salad for lunch the next day. I’ve also thought about melting tiny slices of mozzarella over the nuggets and then dipping in marinara sauce for mini chicken parm bites. I’ve heard they also come in a spicy version, I’m already on board!

Peanut Butter Pretzels

Everything Bagel Salad Mix

Avocado Ranch Salad Kit

Rao’s Marinara: Because you always need a jar of pasta sauce in the pantry just in case! We used one jar of the marinara this week (it comes in a set of two jars) for a chicken parm bake that was delicious.

Pesto (Several votes)

Jack’s Salsa

Frozen enchiladas

Lemon Chocolate Covered Almonds

Frozen Pierogies

Kirkland Thick Cut Bacon

Sous Vide Egg Bites

Felina Black Leggings

Puma Socks and Sports Bras

Sketchers Leggings

Rotisserie Chicken: This has been great to have on-hand when we needed a quick meal.

Columbian Coffee

Perfect Bars

Kombucha

Chocolate Chips

Vanilla Extract

Mozzarella Balls

Dried Apricots

Beer and Wine: You better believe we took advantage of the Costco wine section! James has found a few ports that he enjoys and I’m a big fan of their variety of rosés, definitely going to hitting that up once the weather gets warmer. My friend Charlotte highly recommended La Marca Prosecco!

Morey’s Salmon Filets

Chicken Tikka

Parm Truffle Seasoning

Amylu Chicken Meatballs (Jalapeño and Cranberry)

Fannie May S’mores Snack Mix

Vital Proteins (Several votes)

Mary’s Gone Crackers

Frozen Fruit

Kerrygold Butter

Kirkland Toilet Paper
