When the weekend hits, I’m a girl on the go. A woman on a mission. We’re talking hitting 20,000 steps on Saturday and Sunday (#humblebrag). From going to Trader Joe’s (the Eastern Market location cannot get here fast enough) to working on the blog to walking to Flywheel, I hike all over the city on the weekend. I’m also a really fast walker. But sometimes, it’s good to pause and slow what others *cough* my friends and family *cough* call a speed walker’s pace and just stroll.
Yesterday, I met up with friends for lunch in Eastern Market and afterward we all meandered back to our apartments together. It’s pretty convenient for most of your close friends all live within a 4 block radius. I walk through Eastern Market a few times a week and most of the time I let my feet do the walking and just take the usual route without really much thought. This time though we zigged and zagged all through the neighborhood and pointed out the beautiful homes cool architecture. The highlight though was coming upon the sweetest corgi! I 100% let out a high-pitched squeal of joy when I saw him.
When I leave my apartment on the weekend during the day, I don’t usually get back until much later so I have to make sure I have everything I need. That’s where this satchel comes into play to work its magic. I swear, this Vera Bradley Preppy Poly Satchel is Mary Poppins’ bag. It’s incredible what I can fit into this satchel. Phone (+ work phone), wallet, keys, sunglasses case, my camera, planner, workout clothes if I’m ducking into a spin class later. During the work week, I can fit both my breakfast and lunch Tupperware into the bag along with the other items. Like I said, magical.
I only packed a carry-on for my New Orleans trip and designated this satchel as my go-to bag for the trip because of its ability to fit everything so neatly and compactly. I wanted to soak up as much New Orleans as I could that weekend and didn’t want to keep schlepping back and forth to the hotel. Thanks to this satchel, I was able to have everything I needed for the day on hand. I also appreciate its detachable strap for when I was browsing shops and wanted to go hands-free. Or I could simply use the handles to keep my purse close by when I was just walking around.
Just like my New Orleans wedding outfit, I stuck with cotton for my tourist outfits. Jackie shells are incredibly soft and comfortable plus they are perfect to tuck into a pencil skirt for a polished work outfit. I tucked my Jackie shell into a white midi skirt this time though and added a tan belt to smooth it out. Add a hat to protect my skin from the strong New Orleans sun and comfy shoes and I was ready to hit the Crescent City.
With this Vera Bradley satchel, you’re all set for whatever the weekend has in store.
