We’re in the dog days of summer but instead of feeling lazy, I feel like I’ve caught my second (summer) wind and can’t wait for each day to begin. Armed with a summer bucket list, I’m hitting the ground running. Places to go, happy hours to be had, summer meals to be cooked. But first: Family to see.
I hopped on a (very) late flight home to Buffalo for Tommy’s graduation party AND a family reunion picnic the next day. I laughed, I cried, it was the perfect weekend filled with family, friends and cake. I stayed for a couple of days to pack as much Buffalove summer fun as I could! My parents and Tommy are moving next spring across the country to Arizona so this would be my last summer fling with Buffalo. I wanted to do, see and eat it all in those extra 48 hours! First up, grabbing my favorite-ever iced chai latte and visiting the gorgeous and historic Roycroft Inn.
I woke up ready to go and not wanting to waste a minute so I reached for my favorite white jeans from Talbots (Under $50!) and a textured boxy shell from White House Black Market ($35 on sale!). All-white outfits are perfect for summer days (and summer nights) and I love that they’re literally a blank canvas to accessorize. But that also means it’s tricky to figure out which sandals and jewelry to go with. Not wanting to slow down, I grabbed two sets and ran out the door. As one does.
Grabbing an iced chai latte from Taste in East Aurora, we headed the Roycroft Inn to pay a visit. The inn itself is more than 100 years old and is a National Historic Landmark but my favorite part of this notable building? The gorgeous garden that’s actually in the center of the first floor restaurant. After saying hey to the Roycroft, my mom and I walked around the village sipping our iced chais. It took all of my strength not to finish this latte in one l-o-n-g sip and it took all of my mom’s strength to drag me away from an adorable home with a wrap-around porch with wicker chairs. When I grow up, my house will have a wrap-around porch. I’ll bet you an iced chai on that.
In my first set of accessories, I went with a black-and-white theme. Embellished black sandals and a black-and-white patterned Vera Bradley Hipster Crossbody create a simple yet polished outfit to be a lady who lunches for the day. To add a subtle sparkle, Kendra Scott Scottie Choker in rose gold. It’s a choker but you might notice it’s not exactly tight on my neck. I’ve played around with the length and prefer for the choker to actually hang lower, I think it gives an interesting shape and doesn’t look like any other necklace out there.
For my chai-fueled power walk, I swapped the black-and-white accessories for a power pink Vera Bradley Chain Strap Crossbody and slipped into my broken-in Jacks. This outfit’s made for walkin’!

Thanks, it’s my weekend go-to because it’s compact but fits everything I need when I’m running out the door. Western New York is gorgeous and I was so happy to visit home this summer 🙂
