Union Market is one of my favorite weekend spots in the city, it’s like a personal oasis from 24 hour news and politics. I love strolling around and checking out the vendors and stalls, visiting tried ‘n true favorites like Salt & Sundry and Buffalo & Bergen while also exploring new-to-me spots to get some inspiration for my own kitchen adventures. Whenever I visit Union Market, I feel like I’m hitting a creative reset button and I always leave buzzing with ideas for my blog, recipes, home decor, you name it. Do you ever feel so excited and recharged with ideas that you feel punch drunk? Or, if you visited Bidwell, mimosa-tipsy. Need more excellent reasons for visiting Union Market? I’ll give you three!

  1. People watching: Some call it eavesdropping or just flat out spying. Call it what you will but I LOVE people watching. If you’re a people watching enthusiast like me, Union Market is the spot for you. It’s all walks of DC life together in one place and it’s magical.
  2. DOGS: I won’t be able to have a dog for awhile so for the time being I rely on watching funny dog videos on YouTube and being able to pet other people’s dogs. And let me tell you, Union Market has adorable dogs ready to be loved on in spades. Seriously. When Abby and I went to take photos for the blog, I saw the fluffiest dog imaginable proudly holding onto a stick. I’m not sure anyone’s ever been more proud of something than that dog was of that stick. My heart was in a puddle.
  3. Murals: DC can get a bad rap as a drab city with gloomy government buildings. Union Market’s turning that around with several amazing murals, including this hearts one. It might just have to become the official blog photo background because I am that in 💕 with it. You can’t help but break into a goofy smile when you look at it! Honorable Union Market mural mentions: Zebras with a bright pink backdrop.

And I should probably ease up on gushing over Union Market to chat a bit about this outfit, right? Okay, these boardwalk shorts are going to be a summer staple, I can already tell. I bought them just before my Phoenix trip and wore them about three times that week. Incredibly versatile and with an elastic waistband, boardwalk shorts hit the jackpot of flattering meets comfort. I can’t wait to show you how I’ve dressed them up for a night out on town! 😉 Basic pieces like navy shorts and a white tee need serious color to jazz them up and you know how I feel about bright accessories. Lightweight Murfee scarf and my go-to green weekend bag are all this look needs to go from hitting snooze to hitting Union Market up with friends.
