Walking to and from work, I see girls all the time carrying small purses and I have only one question for them: what kind of Dark magic are you practicing to get all your stuff to fit into one teeny purse?!?!
Or maybe they’re good sort-of witches like Mary Poppins and have magical bags that are bottomless. If that’s the case, where do I buy one of those? eBay? Zappos? Either way, they need to divulge their secrets STAT because packing light for work is close to a miracle in my opinion. On a regular basis, here’s what I’m carrying in my tote to work:
Laptop
Nikon (I’ve already developed a separation anxiety disorder)
Breakfast smoothie/Lunch/Afternoon Snack
Heels
Kate Spade’s “Eat Cake for Breakfast” Gia (similar) to contain all odds ‘n ends
As much as I would love to rid my back + shoulders of the stress of lugging my life around on a regular basis, I really just don’t see how I can do that. If you have any suggestions/advice/tips, please share them!
In the mean time, my work totes should be as cute as possible, right? My friend Kendall showed the West Elm Baggu Dipped Totes to me last week and I instantly developed a crush. Between the gold + the navy, I can’t decide which ones I like the best!

I am a a total tote junkie. My current love is the Kate Spade Call to Action Terry but I have two Ralph Lauren totes I alternate as well. And I say go with navy!
You can’t go wrong with navy! I’ve had my eye on the Call to Action Terry, I just need it to have a work-appropriate saying (no tequila references M-F 9-5 ha!)
Yea I switched back for that reason- I had it with me in Miami and kept meaning to transfer my life from one bag to another. My firm is pretty lax about stuff like that, but my bright red Lauren tote just looks so clean and professional.
I have to say as far as totes go, I love my Vineyard Vines GW tote but it’s a little on the small side. Thoughts on their bags?
I have no idea how people use small bags going to work or school. I love the navy tote and you can add a cute monogram!
