This post has taken been in my drafts folder for weeks now. And honestly, this blog post title sounds kinda dramatic but I felt weird not posting anything on this site in months and then suddenly popping back up with “Vineyard Vines Seersucker One Shoulder Ruffle Top” without an explanation.
So…why did I take a hiatus? I didn’t post anything on this site and was rarely active on Instagram. Simply put: My day job kicked into serious gear and after work and on weekends, my energy just wasn’t there. I can’t tell you how many times I opened up a new post and started to type and no words came out. Same with Instagram.
I needed to take a step back and reboot, so to speak. At one point, I even considered making my blogging hiatus more permanent. That thought was short-lived though because I truly love blogging and really missed writing it and missed connecting with all of you guys!
Here are a few of the things that I’ve been loving and wanting to share with you:
Reading
I made a promise to myself at the beginning of last month that I’d get back into the habit of reading. I started off with I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, which is about the Golden State Killer who was just captured after eluding detectives for decades. I moved on to something lighter and finished Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. I loved this book, the protagonist has a unique perspective on the world and the surprise at the ending shocked me – I had to re-read the page over and over again! Right now I’m reading A Million Junes, I’ll report back : )
Favorite Couch Dinner
With all the zucchini at the farmer’s market, I’ve been on a major zoodle kick. Cacio e pepe with zucchini noodles has been my go-to dinner lately. It’s flavorful, filling and only takes one pan aka I only need to clean one pan. I don’t have a recipe for it per se but here’s what I do: Heat up a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, toss in 1 spiralized zucchini, 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan, 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper, and a dash of red pepper flakes. Toss with tongs and let the zoodles heat for 2 minutes tops, serve.
New Spot for Cocktails
The Wharf has been a draw lately, especially when the summer temperature has hit a balmy 95 degrees. I’ve gone with friends several times to Brighton and each time, it’s been a blast. Fun, casual vibe and best of all, big-batch cocktails you can share with your friends. And pro tip: Hank’s at the Wharf has a weekend happy hour starting at 4pm!
