vineyard vines fall 2013

Walking into a Vineyard Vines shop is an oasis for the senses. The bright colors, artfully arranged shirts and tops and lighting, you really just want to sit down and take it all in. Luckily, they have a couch for that!

Truth be told, I’ve always thought of Vineyard Vines as more of a “vacation wardrobe” for a summer filled with trips to the beach. When Janine, a manager at the Georgetown location, invited me to check out their fall line for work & happy hour ensembles, I was intrigued and jumped at the chance.

My favorite piece had to be their polka dot pencil skirt. Paired with a sweater set or layered up with an oxford and a cardigan for fall, I could picture this pencil skirt with at least half a dozen mix & match tops in my closet. Pencil skirts are flattering to most figures and can be dressed up for 9-5 but still look professional and chic for that post work happy hour. VV SkirtIMG_3268

Although I normally reach for dresses and skirts (the by-product of 14 years of a skirt-centric school dress code), the regatta ankle pants have me reconsidering my instincts. I love the sleek silhouette these pants create, I can see myself wearing the regatta pants with my nude heels and a ruffle top and tying the ensemble together with a belt. The Seascape tunic is ideal for those Sunday mornings when you wake up at 9:23 for a 10:15 brunch (speaking from experience).

My other favorite piece from the fall line was their Striped Sadie Oxford shirt. Oxfords comprise at least 50% of my closet: tucked into a pencil skirt for Monday through Friday and then paired with chinos or shorts for those lazy weekend days. The oxford’s versatility knows no bounds. But the best of these shirts? The second color stripes on the underside of the collar: it’s like a built in accessory!VV Striped ShirtsThe Gingham Check is a wonderful transition piece from August to October. This month, wear it with your white jeans and neutral wedges for a lunch date and come October, a pair of jeans and boots will make it your go-to fall look. VV Pink Checks This fall, Vineyard Vines’ print is the iconic New England lobster. Found on a Shep shirt and dayboat shorts, my favorite lobster appearance was on their tote:Lobster ToteDon’t think I’ve forgotten about the men. I rarely venture into men’s style but VV makes their men’s style simply fun. Forget about the navy suits and plain white oxfords. VV’s men brings color and life back to everyday menswear.

I loved this layered look: wear the oxford and tie for work, then slip on the quarter zip as you head out the door. It’ll keep you warm for those chilly fall evenings while looking put together. VV Quarter ZipVV TiesI love a color coded wall : )VV Polos Wall
