Tuckernuck Jackie Dress Review
The Jackie is definitely a bit of an investment piece for a dress, price-wise, so I was initially hesitant when hitting purchase. My workwear attire has significantly shifted since I left the Senate and started working a hybrid of at home and in the office. But my work closet needed an update and I knew there was a gap for a good, solid shift tweed dress. Tuckernuck is the home of my favorite shirtdress (styled here, here, and here) and decided to give the Jackie a whirl. Into my cart it went!
Spoiler: I love the Jackie dress so much, I now have it in two colors!
Tuckernuck Jackie Dress
Much like its namesake, Jackie Kennedy, the Jackie dress’s look and style is classic and timeless. It has an A-line shift silhouette, which is flattering and comfortable whether I’m in the office or sitting at my home desk on Zoom meetings. Comfort is definitely key when dressing for your WFH job!
Dress Details
One of my favorite details on this dress is the braided trim on the crew neckline. I talked about it over on Instagram and this detail really hits home why this dress is perfect for WFH style. My meetings are typically on-camera and I like to look polished, especially since I still feel like the new kid at school. But Zoom screens only show from the waist-up so I like to make sure I have outfit details from that angle that demonstrate I am, in fact, put together – even if I’m secretly wearing fuzzy slippers! My home office gets chilly 😊
I’ve relied on blazers, necklaces and earrings, and scarves for this. I love adding a new tool, the braided trim neckline, into my toolkit!
The Jackie also has faux front pockets with gold crest buttons and a hidden back zipper. It does fall as a “mini” but if you’re on the shorter side like I am, it shouldn’t be an issue. I do wear it with tights and stockings when I go into the office.
I’ve also worn this dress to brunches, dinners, church – it’s truly so perfect for any occasion where you need to get a little dressed up or feel a touch more like Jackie Kennedy herself!
Initially, I chose the hot pink color because Barbie fever made me realize how little pink I currently have in my work wardrobe. I wanted a fun, bold color for the boardroom and this fit the bill. And because I loved the hot pink one so much I also purchased the emerald green colorway for holidays and the winter months. Although, honestly, both colorways are appropriate year-round.
Sizing and Care
With the A-line shift silhouette, this dress does run on the roomier side. I’m typically an 8-10 and I opted for a size medium, which was the right call. I wanted a little bit of extra length so I could comfortably wear it to work and a looser fit on the arms.
This dress is lined and made of textured fabric. It did arrive a bit wrinkled but I was able to safely steam away the wrinkles. I’ve also lightly ironed it on the “polyester” setting. Another reason to love this dress – it’s machine washable. I wash it with my color items on cold and while you can tumble it in the dryer on low, I prefer to let mine air-dry. It does take awhile to fully dry that way because of the weight of the textured fabric.
How I Style My Jackie Dress
With its timeless details, this dress could style itself all on its own! I love emerging the dress in its Jackie sensibility with a classic ballet flat and pearl studs.
But when I’m feeling like zhuzh-ing it up, I reach for a scarf to drape over my shoulders and perhaps tie into a knot. Perhaps I could even add a brooch or a pin to my scarf next time? I had a lot of fun pairing black tights with my block heels for these photos, it felt very Kate Spade!
