Chatting today about my review of Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Oat Creamer Brown Sugar Flavor and sharing my brown sugar chai recipe using it.
One of my favorite things to share with you are Trader Joe’s new items and seasonal favorites. Today’s item falls under the former category – Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Oat Creamer Brown Sugar Flavor (whew, that’s a mouthful) is dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. It hit shelves when I was away in Arizona and I knew I had to put it on my TJ’s list when I returned to DC.
I’m not a coffee drinker at all. My morning joy comes in the form of a cup of chai. Trader Joe’s has two chai options – Chai Latte Mix Powder and their Spiced Chai Concentrate. My local TJ’s keeps them next to each other on the shelf along with the other teas. I do buy both but I prefer the Chai Latte Mix Powder. It’s stronger in flavor to me than the chai concentrate but it does take a bit longer since you need to add boiling water to it for the powder to fully mix. I’ll sometimes keep the chai concentrate on hand for mornings where I’m low on time.
In the fall, Trader Joe’s brings out maple-flavored and pumpkin-flavored oat milks that I love adding to my chai so I had high hopes for this creamer. Here’s how it went:
Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Oat Creamer Brown Sugar Flavor Review
I took a few sips of the creamer on its own to see how it was. The brown sugar flavor was stronger than I expected and I tasted the brown sugar more than I did any oats. Overall, I was impressed for $1.99.
Brown Sugar Chai Recipe
My Trader Joe’s didn’t have any of the Chai Latte Mix in stock when I went so I made this with the Spiced Chai Concentrate. I’m going to try this again with the mix once it’s back and I might even get a little fancy with frothing the oat milk! Here’s what I did this time:
Fill a glass with ice. Pour the Spiced Chai Concentrate about halfway and then I added Trader Joe’s Almond, Cashew, and Macadamia Milk until the glass is about 3/4 full. Lastly, I added two tablespoons of Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Oat Creamer Brown Sugar Flavor and give it a stir. It’s a delicious treat to have in the morning or for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up!
