Over the weekend, my mother sent several texts and made multiple calls to inform of the “perfect, picturesque” apple pie she made. I love apple pie and far prefer it to pumpkin pie. Her texts in which she described how she drizzled caramel over the top crust and how she mixed two types of apples to create the desired consistency could be classified as cruel and unusual torture.
Thankfully, my family will be coming to celebrate Thanksgiving with me in a month and my mother assures me she will come armed with New York apples to recreate the pie with me. Expect a post dedicated solely to apple pie!
Until then, this cocktail could do the trick…

Ingredients:
1 oz. Cake Vodka
1 oz. Spiced Whisky
1/2 oz. Maple Syrup
2 oz. Apple Juice
Preparation:
Shake all ingredients in a shaker over ice.
Strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with an apple slice and because I have the palette of a 7 year old, add a healthy scoop of ice cream!
Definitely need to try this… I will probably sub apple cider for apple juice though (not that there’s much difference between the two).
