I’ve been rewatching Glee and realized something monumental: I adore (read: am deeply envious of) Emma Pillsbury’s wardrobe now just as much as I did in 2009 in my college dorm room.
The cornerstone of everyone’s favorite guidance counselor’s closet are her iconic Mary Jane pumps. I think we can all remember audibly gasping when her beautiful J.Crew Penelope pumps got a bit gummed up. Cringe. 
Normally, I go for a slim stiletto heel but I could channel my inner Emma and extend my comfort zone to include a chunkier heel. The femininity of the Mary Jane strap balances out the chunky heel nicely to create a look I can get on board with. 
Splurge: J.Crew Etta Mary Janes ($348)
Save: Sole Society Whitney ($60)
The save pump wins this round in my opinion. I love the Whitney in the burgundy color (not pictured) and think the Whitney could be paired with black Minnie pants for date night or with a pencil skirt to really create an Emma approved work look. This won’t be the last you see of the Whitney on DC Girl in Pearls ; )
