{Rockland’s BBQ}

I love BBQ. It is my favorite comfort food. I have to say DC has several terrific BBQ joints and I live dangerously close to a couple of them.

Yesterday, I got a phone call from a good friend who I haven’t seen since August, when he left for William & Mary Law School. He was en route back to school but needed a break from driving so he called me.

You know those friendships where you pick things right back up where you left them? I’m lucky to have several such friendships. We had a great time and it was as if no time had passed since our goodbye brunch (also at a BBQ place) back in August. We quickly decided to go to  {Rockland’s BBQ} and it was delicious. Now, I stroll by Rockland’s several times daily and each time I walk by, deeply inhaling the sweet BBQ aromas and do not go in is a major victory.

I ordered the beef brisket with a side of mac ‘n cheese (and obviously a Diet Coke).

I was happy with my brisket although I felt it was a tad dry. However, I failed to notice until after my meal the self serve pot of BBQ sauce. Rookie mistake but now I know for next time. The mac ‘n cheese was also delicious and tasted fresh & homemade.

I tried to snap a picture of my friend’s pork with coleslaw but he devoured it before I had a chance. However, he did proclaim it “The best BBQ he has had in DC” and lamented not going there when he lived in DC.

Normally, I do not suggest wearing white to a BBQ joint but as Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Do one thing every day that scares you” and so I wore this ensemble to dinner:

Peacoat / Oxford / Skirt (similar) / Necklace / Earrings /Scarf (similar) / Loafers

Is BBQ your ultimate comfort food, too? Do you have a favorite BBQ spot?
