Sharing a few recent coastal grandmother home decor finds – all under $70!
Rattan Storage Basket // Ceramic Table Lamp with Rattan Shade // Large Seagrass Vase
“Coastal grandmother” is having its moment on TikTok right now (P.S. Here’s my TikTok) but to be honest, I feel like I’ve been living the “coastal grandmother” life for many years at this point. With having a busy and often stressful day job, I’ve made a goal of creating as tranquil and calming of an apartment as possible. When I walk in to the apartment after work, I can feel like I’m letting out a big exhale.
I recently found a few coastal grandmother home decor pieces that I’m excited to share with you. They’re adorable, budget-friendly, and will add a joyful touch to your home.
Rattan Storage Basket
In a city apartment, storage is king. I’ve had my IKEA Kallax bookcase for years now and while it primarily serves as my library, I do use the bottom row as extra storage (and to keep myself from buying every single book out there!) and recently the storage bins there were looking kind of sad. I wanted a more put-together look. H+M’s home decor section is sneakily great and that’s where I snagged these rattan storage baskets! They are a bit on the fragile side, I’d recommend picking them up from the sides and not the bottom. You also need to assemble them. But once assembled, they look amazing and I’m so happy to have storage that looks polished and purposeful.
Rattan Shade Ceramic Lamp
I found this rattan shade ceramic lamp on Target and if you follow me on Instagram, you know that the shipping was less than ideal. There was no cushioning in the box so the lamp arrived totally broken. But that was okay because I purchased this lamp exclusively for the rattan shade. Years ago, I found a ginger jar lamp at a local Goodwill. It didn’t have a lampshade but it was under $10 and absolutely worth it. Since then, it has optimistically sat amongst my ginger jar collection looking for a lampshade to complete its look. I’ve searched high and low but it’s been a journey to find a lampshade that had the aesthetic and the measurements I needed. This rattan shade fit the bill perfectly and I am so happy, mission accomplished!
Seagrass Vase
Buying flowers at Trader Joe’s is my weekly self-care. I have a couple of nice vases and usually rely on my trusty hurricane vases to work. This seagrass vase caught my eye when I was perusing for the lampshade and I liked how the vase was curved. It’ll look great in the middle of our dining table with fresh flowers!
