Happy Friday!! I don’t know about you but this week seemed to drag on. I think having last Wednesday off of work threw me way off my schedule…. What do you mean, I don’t have a vacation day in the middle of the week?!
But we survived and it’s the weekend! It’s getting to the part of the summer that I want to do ALL of the things and don’t want to waste a single moment of the summer. Do you feel like that or is it just me? I made a list of things I want to do and see before Summer 2018 draws to a close. Thankfully, DC has so many fun events and happenings going on every day. Here’s what’s on tap for this weekend:
Friday
Union Market DC Scoops
Union Market is hosting their yearly FREE ice cream social! With every ice creamery in the city from Ice Cream Jubilee to Rita’s, DC Scoops is the place to sample the best of the ultimate summer dessert. DC Scoops kicks off at 5 p.m. tonight and goes until 9 p.m. – and Union Market just extended their hours so you can stick around until 10 to grab a drink or a bite.
Sephora Grand Opening at Eastern Market
The fact that Sephora is opening on the same block as Trader Joe’s tells me two things: I will be virtually living on that block. And that a good chunk of my paycheck will also go to that block. According to Facebook, Sephora opens its doors at 10 a.m. today and you can receive a tote and an exclusive necklace with a $75 purchase or a tote bag with a $35 purchase during opening weekend. See you there? I’ll be stalking the skincare section!
White Ford Bronco at the Bullpen
Everybody’s favorite 90s and 00s cover band is back at the Bullpen tonight! Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm and you can party like it’s 1999 until 10pm. It’s $20 cash at the door!
Saturday
Capital Candy Jar x Ice Cream Jubilee
It’s the event of my sweet tooth dreams!! Capital Candy Jar is partnering with Ice Cream Jubilee to bring you ice cream treats to beat the DC heat. Their store, located at 201 15th Street NE, will be open 10am to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays and open 10am to 9pm all other days of the week except Mondays. I’m personally really excited to get a scoop of their banana bourbon caramel or maybe I’ll go wild and get an ice cream float. It’s the freakin’ weekend, bout to have me some fun, right?
Politics & Prose Celebrates Bastille Day
Head back to Union Market at 6 p.m. to celebrate Bastille Day with Politics & Prose. The bookstore is holding a discussion on tracing the socio-economic roles of iconic French foods and wines…along with a tasting of French wines, cheese & charcuterie! This event is free to attend, get details here.

I’ve been toying with doing a weekly newsletter listing out fun events in DC for the upcoming weekend. Is this something you’d like to see? Please let me know in the comments below or shoot me a note at Lauren(at)dcgirlinpearls(dot)com.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!
