My Day Trip to Nashville in iPhone Photos

Aaaaannnndddd I’m back!! I spent the Fourth of July weekend in Tennessee visiting my boyfriend and his family and had a wonderful time, humidity and all. I pretty much unplugged for the entire weekend, really only checking my work email, so I could just thoroughly enjoy the weekend and spend quality time.

I packed my DSLR but I ended up only snapping photos on my iPhone so I thought it’d be fun to put together a post of my day in Nashville, old school blog-style!

Nashville Hot Chicken

Let’s chat first about how much I ate on this vacation. I knew going in this was going to be an indulgent trip and oh my goodness, I think if I shared everything I ate, it wouldn’t be a pretty picture. Delicious and totally worth it, yes. Pretty, no.

I had to get hot chicken while I was in Nashville though! J and I went to his favorite spot, Bolton’s, and each got a plate of hot wings with coleslaw and potato salad. It’s a no-frills spot and we waited about 30 minutes to get our meals but it was so so worth it!

We erred on the side of caution and went with a mild amount of spice. I put hot sauce on just about everything so I could’ve kicked it up a notch or two. The wings were delicious and crispy and the spicy seasoning was exactly what I wanted. I especially loved the homemade potato salad and coleslaw sides! Since I live by myself, I never make potato salad since that’s not really feasible for one person. And I have virtually no self-control around potatoes. My grandma always made the best potato salad for summer parties, making this a favorite nostalgic summer dish for me.

I gotta brag for a minute, I was pretty proud of myself with handling the Nashville hot chicken. We were both starving since we were eating it on the later side of the afternoon. I was cruising through my wings when I paused and looked up at J. He had actual beads of sweat on his forehead and his eyes were red from the spice. Guess you can take the girl outta Buffalo… 😂

Janarty’s Homemade Ice Cream

This was my very last stop before heading to the airport. J’s parents and I went for a post-dinner scoop of homemade ice cream at Janarty’s Homemade Ice Cream in Smyrna. I went with their Candy Blast, vanilla ice cream with crushed bits of candy bars. Anything with ice cream and candy bars and I’m there! It’s a really cute family-run shop and they take customer requests. Smyrna’s a sleepy town but worth a visit for its charm and ice cream!

Draper James Store

OF COURSE, I had to go to Draper James!! I mean, c’mon. The shop is just as beautiful as you’d expect and it took every fiber of my being to not walk out with the whole store. I didn’t get carried away and picked up a cute shirt for my mom and a guitar key fob for myself since I’m always losing my keys in my purse.

And I couldn’t leave without snapping a quick pic in front of the Draper James blue + white striped wall!

This was my third visit to Nashville and each time, I’ve had more fun than the last trip. I didn’t get a chance to get some queso from SATCO but don’t worry, I’ll be back 😊
