Over the weekend, my mom, Tommy and I went to IKEA to pick up some odds ‘n ends for my apartment and let me tell you, I had to exercise some extreme willpower not to leave with half of the store in my cart. Though I did leave with a froyo cone because well, it’s mandatory.
IKEA had such an abundance of greenery and colors, I think I came down with a fever.
Spring fever.
And the only cure is more cowbell colorful decor.
And these pieces are so reasonably priced, you’ll be keeping more green in your pocket. Okay, enough of the spring jokes, Lauren.
But seriously, the best part of some of these pieces? They can work double time as organization!! Spring cleaning, ahead of schedule (for now).
DRIFTIG Plate // DRACAENA Bamboo // SMANATE Cushions // SKURAR Plant Pot // GRIPANDE Serving Pieces // SKURAR Plant Box // SOCKERKAKA Loaf Pan // KNIPSA Basket // OFFENTLIG Tray
DRIFTIG Plate + OFFENTLIG Tray: I love the idea of adding these colorful dishes to a gallery wall in the kitchen. Just add Command Hooks and voila! Something pretty to look at as you chop chop chop. You could also use these dishes to DIY a tiered jewelry holder.
SKURAR Plant Pot: While my SKURAR is currently home to a succulent on my window, a SKURAR plant pot could also be used to house makeup brushes, hair brushes and other knick knacks in the beauty department.
SKURAR Plant Box: If you’re throwing a small party, line the plant box with a small garbage bag and fill with ice. Chill your wine and/or beer in a cute impromptu cooler!
SOCKERKAKA Loaf Pan: I’m the condiment queen and this loaf pan is a colorful way to keep all your spices in check! Or you could do what I’m doing with mine and use it to make ice cream. So there’s that.
What are your favorite IKEA pieces? Any good organization tips for spring cleaning?

The plates’ prints + colors are so much fun! They would look really eye-catching in this DIY, #9: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mallorymcinnis/collections#.ciPZgYBXXW
Love the planters, will be picking some up for the garden. On a side note, I find the selection at Woodbridge better than college park, pity they can’t have one in DC proper!
Thanks for the tip, Jessica! My mom picked up a couple of planters as well, she has the green thumb in the family. With my tiny apartment, I stick to succulents! IKEA did have a solid selection of bamboo, which are impossible to kill and make my bathroom feel like a spa (I wish!!).
