How To Eat Local This Fall

Sundays aren’t Sundays without a trip to Eastern Market. Especially now that it’s daylight savings and we’ve lost an hour, I’m planning on soaking up all the extra sunlight I can. Strolling through the farmer’s market and walking home with my canvas tote full of veggies (and maybe a fresh bouquet). Bonus: people watching and lots of cute dogs!

I’ve been making an effort lately to pack as many veggies and greens into my meals as I can. I’m finally back in the swing of eating healthy and taking the time to make lunches for the week instead of relying on the cafeteria at work. I went over my spending for last month and realized I spent about $70 on lunches that weren’t particularly tasty, just convenient. Life’s too short for sad desk lunches.

Learning how to eat local is exciting because I love the idea of trying out new veggies! With the exception of fennel and lima beans (blech), I’m a fan of most veggies. And new veggies mean new kitchen adventures. Hopefully my overly-sensitive smoke alarm is on board.

I love this idea! Every time I look at how much I spend on lunch during the week it’s depressing! Having tasty foods to bring from home always makes it so much easier 🙂
