{Happy birthday, Dad!}

Today is my father’s birthday and I really wish I was in New York to celebrate with him and my family. My mother has his favorite German chocolate cake ordered and ready to light up with candles. I will be making a guest appearance to sing “Happy Birthday” via Facetime but it’s not the same as being there in person.

My favorite memories of my dad include watching The Flintstones and Yogi Bear, going to our favorite lunchtime spot for a tuna pita pocket, Flintstones push-pops, throwing the ball around in our backyard, sitting next to him on the couch watching whatever game is on and him being a trooper through our numerous family trips to Disney World when I insisted on going on Splash Mountain at least a dozen times. Also, his corny jokes but I would never admit that to him. He can be pretty corny.

A favorite picture of my father & I on the Fourth of July circa 1993 is his assigned picture. Check out this aviators!

Since I can’t sing happy birthday and eat delicious cake with my family, I am doing the next best thing. We are Facetiming for the birthday serenade and this morning I went to {Baked & Wired} to get the Elvis cupcake, banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting. Why this particular cupcake? Because my dad’s song for me since I was born is Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.”
