Getting Thrifty!

This week, I sent in my application to graduate! I immediately felt a sigh of relief that I could see the light at the end of the tunnel but then sheer panic set in as I realized the approach of “The Real World” (I’m using quotation marks because it’s still a theoretical place until May) meant the approach of finances, “Real World”-style. Gulp.

As a girl who is a self confessed “shopaholic,” the idea of being in charge of finances & being on a budget can be daunting. However, today made me realize that instead of complaining, I should just lady up and get thrifty! I’ve forgotten how awesome consignment stores can be for clothing. The last time I went to a consignment shop was in August & I found a brand new with tags Lilly pair of pants for $12. Seriously, you cannot beat that price! Today, my mother & I went to a consignment hunting & I walked out with:

The jacket is actually a cream color but blame my old camera for the photo quality. Anyway, this is a quilted jacket from Espirit and when I looked online, I couldn’t find the exact match but a comparable Espirit jacket was $200. I paid: $6.

I also purchased a pair of never worn green reptile print ballet flats. Trust me, they’re not as bad as they might sound! I thought they’d look good with a pair of dark jeans for going out or even with a skirt to brunch. I paid $7.50 for the ballet flats.

My total for t$13.50, yess!!!!

The other day, I went to Paper Source to get tissue paper & ended up browsing around the store. I soon realized I needed to get out of that place before I ended up purchasing the whole store! However, I did spy a Sale section and was thrilled to find these correspondence notes. These notes were originally $9 each but were 50% so it was as if I purchased them 2-for-1. If they had had more of this pattern, I would have purchased more but alas. Still, how adorable are these note cards?

If you’re like me and about to start off into “The Real World,” challenge yourself to find awesome deals and remember, you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of style!
