Frangelico Kahlua Cocktail with a Nutella Rim

Frangelico Cocktail

Bring out the good cocktail glasses and let’s get the holiday party circuit started! There are so many holiday cocktail options out there and believe me, I love them all. I want the cranberries, the bubbles, you name it.

But let’s take a different route and shake up a few new drinks for your guests to enjoy!

Or maybe you are really just in the mood for a festive holiday drink while you curl up on the couch with your coziest blanket and your favorite Christmas movie. Both sound like excellent evenings so I’ve got your bases covered with these cocktail recipes.

It really took all of my willpower not to swan dive into this Frangelico cocktail. From getting to use my martini glasses to a sweet Nutella rim for garnish, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur was the star of the evening and I also love how simple it is to make your drinks feel extra special.

What Is Frangelico Liqueur?

If you aren’t familiar with Frangelico, let me bring you up to speed: it’s a hazelnut liqueur made from hazelnuts in Northern Italy. Think of it as Nutella’s boozy sister. Don’t worry, I’ll also give you a minute to process how something as amazing as that exists in this world. Take all the time you need, I’ll be right here.

Good? Great. Frangelico hazelnut flavor tastes delicious mixed into coffee, I’ll have to try it with chai for me…could be a pretty delicious iced chai, right?

My inspiration for this first cocktail came from The Chocolate Bar, a dessert martini bar in Buffalo where my mom took me shortly after my 21st birthday. My birthday is right near Thanksgiving/the beginning of the Christmas season so it’s always a whirlwind of activities. My mom realized we’d been so busy running errands that I hadn’t taken advantage of my newly minted “no longer under 21” license so we stopped to get a cocktail. The dessert martinis hit the spot and also tasted amazing. And a hazelnut spread-rimmed martini glass? Yum!

It’s a fun memory and I’m happy I get to recreate it at home, especially around the holidays, and share it with family and friends.
