My Fitness Goals for 2019

J.Crew Factory City Coat // Old Navy High-Rise Compression Crops (I swear by Old Navy activewear leggings!! I’ve had pairs for years and they wash so well – aka they don’t become see-through or pill. Being on the short side, I love their crops for spring and summer. For the colder months (and polar vortexes!), I reach for Old Navy’s 7/8 Leggings. They hit just above my ankle and I love how warm they are for those chilly walks to my workouts. I love the lattice-hem detail on this pair + the moto-look of this pair – both are on sale for $22!! The leggings run TTS, I wear a size medium) // Old Navy Fly-Away Tank (This tank is so unbelievably soft, you’ll wish you could live in it – I know I do. The fun little knot is a cute detail though to be honest, not so cute when you’re doing crunches! The Fly-Away Tank also comes in navy, gray, and light pink. Gonna buy them all! I loved wearing this tank for 305 Fitness. They run TTS, I wear a medium here but I also have purchased in a large when I want a baggier workout top)

I debated about postponing this post until Tuesday. I mean, after we all spent yesterday indulging in junk food (including yours truly), who wants to talk about health and fitness goals?

But I’ve postponed talking about this with you for too long so here we are.

My number one reason for pushing this post back week after week? Frankly and honestly, I don’t look fit in these photos at all. But if that’s not fitness motivation, I don’t know what is.

I talked over on Instagram a little bit about my physical health. After spending last year working on getting out of my rut and tackling my stress, it’s time to work on my physical health. And for me, that means more than just working out.

Working on My Posture

Last year, I started noticing a sharp pain in my neck and shoulders. At first I chalked it up to just being sore and something that happens with age. But then by the end of last year, it was painful to sit at my desk. Massages helped but only temporarily.

I made an appointment with a chiropractor and in my initial visit, he took X-rays of my neck, shoulders, and spine. And it was eye-opening to say the least.

The good news is my spine is completely straight. The bad news is my neck is a complete disaster thanks to years of sitting at a desk and straining in front of a computer.

So I’ve been seeing a chiropractor for a few times a week now and doing daily neck stretches and already I’m noticing a big difference in my posture. I’ve got a long way to go before my neck is back to normal but I’m happy to see progress is being made!

Which is also great because I h-a-t-e the sound of bones cracking so each visit is basically a personal episode of Fear Factor for me.

Switching Up My Workout Routine

My goal for this year is to be more consistent with my workouts. I’ve definitely struggled with ruining my workouts by not going often enough or indulging far too often with my “cheat” meals. I’m working on mixing up my workouts and trying exercises outside of my comfort zone. Which let’s be real, is my couch. I’ll be sharing more on Instagram so be sure to follow along!

Two goals for the next 6 months are to be able to hold a plank for 60 seconds (I used to be able to do this before my neck/shoulders disaster) and to go to a Solidcore class. I’ll keep you posted on both 😉
