Does Native Natural Deodorant Actually Work?

A very honest review of Native Deodorant + whether it actually works

Over the last few years, I’ve been making a conscious switch to cleaner skincare products. Beautycounter has become my #1 source for safer skincare and I swear by their Overnight Resurfacing Peel, Dewskin, and their Countertime anti-aging line.

I don’t always use clean or natural skincare products, my personal rule is that the natural version has to work better or be just as effective as the product I’m looking to replace.

I’ve tried several natural deodorants and either they just didn’t work at all (oof) or they stopped working a few weeks in.

I’m not going to tease out my blog post title (that seems a bit mean) so I’ll simply respond: Yes, Native natural deodorant actually works.

Native Natural Deodorant came onto my radar because they advertise on a podcast I listen to weekly. But I didn’t want to deal with shipping for a product I wasn’t sure actually would work for me. At this point, I had tried two natural deodorants that had rave reviews but they didn’t work for me. I was in Arizona about a month ago visiting my family + popped into Target with my mom. To my surprise (this was my first Target trip in a year!), Native Natural Deodorant had an end display near the beauty section. They had a few scents that caught my eye (nose?) but ultimately I went with Lavender + Rose.

I figured I would test it out, see if it worked, and report back. After a month, I can confidently tell you this deodorant lives up to its hype.

Native Deodorant is paraben free + aluminum free. Most anti-perspirants contain aluminum to act as a plug on your sweat ducts + to prevent you from sweating. Native won’t stop you from sweating but it will neutralize odors + help you feel dry. It’s also vegan + cruelty-free.

Here’s where we get personal. I wouldn’t consider myself a sweaty person (except during DC summers but that’s a different story) but there is no way I could go a day without deodorant. I also consider myself a fairly active person between walking everywhere and taking barre classes. My deodorant needs to work.

Side note: I think I’ll update this post to see how it holds up to a hot + humid DC summer. Okay, moving on…

I immediately started using Native Deodorant + was really impressed. It doesn’t get clumpy or begin to crumble the way other natural deodorants have in the past on me + the scent was the perfect balance, not too much or too little. Since I was in Arizona, I took advantage of the sunshine to do my barre classes outside. I was definitely sweaty but Native Deodorant held up for me! I did re-apply after workouts but that’s standard practice for me.

This will be a repeat purchase for me. I love the Lavender + Rose scent though I might add another scent into the mix. They have so many good scents to choose!

Native Deodorant also offers scents for men, scents for sensitivity, and recently launched a plastic free option.
