A topic I’ve wanted to write about since I learned about this trend. Today, we’re going to delve into this spicy question – does adding jalapeños to rosé actually taste good?

Does Adding Jalapeños to Rosé Actually Taste Good?
Several months ago, I was lounging on the couch, absentmindedly scrolling through Instagram Stories when something caught my eye and I immediately firmly placed my thumb on my screen to pause a particular Story.
Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Or were those jalapeño slices floating in that glass of rosé?
I love a good garnish but this seemed like an entirely different matter and I had to investigate further. I slid into the DMs of my friend Megan, who had posted the Story of her cheers-ing with friends, all holding glasses of rosé with jalapeños. She confirmed that yes, this is a thing and yes, it’s delicious.
I love spicy cocktails (like my Trader Joe’s Spicy Mango Lemonade Margarita) and knew I had to give this a shot.
Heading into Trader Joe’s (of course), I picked up fresh jalapeños and a bottle of Blue Shell rosé. I’ve enjoyed Blue Shell rosé before, it’s a fruity and floral dry rosé available for $7.
My Prep and Set Up
I chilled the rosé for several hours. I’d recommend making sure the rosé is as chilled as possible for this endeavor. Looking back, the spice of the jalapeños doesn’t really work with even slightly cold rosé. This is a time when you bring out the ice bucket! I’m still in love with the champagne bucket we received as a wedding gift.
I thinly sliced 1 jalapeño for the two of us, you really only need 3-4 slices per glass. Personally, I like the zip of jalapeño and if you’ve been reading this this far, I’m guessing you do, too. I left the seeds in for extra punch but if you like it with a little less punch, remove the seeds. And, as always, immediately wash the knife, cutting board, and your hands after handling a hot pepper.
Soooo…Should I Add Jalapeños To My Rosé?
The ultimate verdict – adding jalapeños to rosé is a fun way to shake things up a bit. I would suggest switching it up and enjoying spicy rosé instead of a margarita for your next taco night at home – especially if you’re making fish tacos!
I enjoyed the change and I think it’ll be particularly refreshing once summer comes back.
