Sharing an easy and timeless holiday party outfit idea – the Blackwatch Daphne dress (come for the classic plaid, stay for the bow detail!)
Holiday Outfit Idea: Blackwatch Daphne Dress
A few weekends ago, James and I decided to get dressed up and have a date night out on the town to celebrate. Celebrate our first Christmas together, our first married Christmas together, my new job, and James’ selection for a work training program.
I reserved a table for us at Martin’s Tavern in Georgetown. Martin’s is an institution all year round but they really go all out during the holidays. They deck the famous tavern out with Christmas ornaments, wreaths, garlands, the works. With all the end-of-year chaos, we didn’t decorate our home for Christmas (other than a cheerful wreath on our front door) so being surrounded with all the festive decor made it feel like the holiday season was truly here.
Looking in my closet, I had the perfect outfit for this special occasion.
Blackwatch Daphne Dress Details and Sizing
My Blackwatch Daphne dress is currently available in sizes XS through XXXL. The Daphne dress has a flowy, shift silhouette and does run big. I’m typically a size medium and wear 8-10. In this style, I wear a size small. I would recommend going down one size from your usual size.
My favorite details on this dress (besides the pockets!) are the ruffled collar and the bow on the back. You can adjust the bow to be smaller with longer tails, my preference is to the bow and tails to be approximately the same size. I wasn’t able to get a good photo of the bow but you can see it in the photos here.
Outfit Details
I found this gold clutch on Amazon for $18 several weeks ago when I needed one for James’ military ball. It fits my phone, wallet, keys, and lipstick comfortably and has a gold chain you can use. I prefer to have it as a clutch.
My pearl cluster earrings are from Tuckernuck a few years ago, I love these pearl hoop earrings as another option. You also know about my love for my gold birdcage earrings for this time of the year. Remember – if you decide to rock the birdcage earrings, I highly recommend using Kendra Scott’s Lobe Wonder. You can read my full review of Lobe Wonder here.
I also wore a pearl bracelet James picked for my birthday this year ❤️
To balance out the sparkle, I reached for my favorite Sarah Flint Natalie flats. Here’s a promo code to save $50 on your first pair of full-price Sarah Flint shoes: SARAHFLINT-BALAURENR.
