Best Canned Rosé for Summer

Canned Trader Joe's Rosé | @dcgirlinpearls

Here’s the 411 on canned rosé. Aka summer water in a can.

In my humble opinion, the greatest invention of mankind is canned rosé. The start of summer for me didn’t happen until last weekend when my friends and I loaded up the snacks and sunscreen and headed up to the roof for the first official Pool Day of 2017. I cracked open my canned rosé and suddenly it was summer.

Let me back up to last summer when I discovered the pure joy that is canned rosé.

Every Saturday in the summer is Pool Day for my friends and I. We hang out by the pool and grill and it’s bliss. But the rooftop has a really strict “no glass bottles” policy, which I get, but as a non-beer drinker kinda puts a real buzz kill in my Pool Day. I temporarily solved the problem thanks to a large Nalgene and a bottle of wine. Last summer I was at Trader Joe’s on a Saturday morning (Surprise, surprise) to pick up poolside snacks when I walked through the wine aisle. I mean, they put the wine aisle directly next to the checkout line. TJ’s is being crafty for someone who wears Hawaiian print shirts. My eyes lighted on Underwood canned rosé and on a whim, into my cart it went. The price tag of $5 for a can of wine seemed excessive to me but it was a novelty and I had just gotten paid so I figured why not. Well, let me tell you.

Underwood canned rosé equals 2.5 glasses of wine and has a crisp, tart taste that hits the spot on a Pool Day or at a picnic. Fair warning: Underwood canned rosé is 12% Alc. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Another great thing about Underwood canned rosé is it’s a heck of a lot easier to schlep to my friends’ building than my Ol’ Faithful Nalgene of wine.

Canned rosé became my summer Pool Day drink of choice and I was excited to see canned rosé stocked back on the shelf at your neighborhood friendly (crafty) Trader Joe’s. And then Trader Joe’s got in on the canned rosé game.

Guys, it’s going to be a good summer.

Trader Joe’s Simpler Wine are much smaller cans of wine and comes in a 4-pack for $4. Just meant to be. The total pack equals almost a bottle of wine and like its Underwood canned rosé counterpart is much much much easier to take to parties than an entire bottle. I love Trader Joe’s Simpler Wine because it’s sparkling rosé. You can have your rosé and fizz too. Maybe it’s the bubbles or maybe it’s the really cute packaging but Simpler Wine just says “Party time!” to me. Trader Joe’s Simpler Wine is also dry and very sippable. One might say almost too sippable…

Have you tried canned rosé yet? What’d you think?

And if you want to stick with the bottle, here are my favorite rosé wines on a budget.

This makes me miss DC so much! I used to go to TJs every week but sadly there isn’t one near me in Miami. These sound delicious and like the perfect way to celebrate summer!

Underwood canned wine are also sold at other grocery stores, too! I’ve seen them before at Giant!
