My Wedding Day Shoes

Revealing my wedding day shoes + why they’re the perfect fit for our Big Day!

James + I are now officially less than a year out from getting married!! It truly feels surreal, an emotion I’m sure will only increase as we get closer and closer to our wedding day. I really hope I’m not jinxing myself but wedding planning so far has been simple + drama-free. The biggest drama we’ve experienced so far was finding out my wedding dress was discontinued!! Thankfully, the store had a sample in excellent condition + is currently hanging in my closet. But whew it was a stressful 24 hours.

I have my dress + jewelry all set but still need to order my veil although I know which one I want. The missing piece – my wedding day shoes.

Thinking through what our wedding day will look like, I came up with these criteria to get the perfect fit:

Comfortable for long hours of standing/dancing: I’m expecting to be on my feet for most of this day. Whenever I go to weddings, I never leave the dance floor – except to refresh my drink. I also plan to be bopping around the reception to see our guests + give everyone a big hug. So my wedding day shoes needed to have staying power.

Able to easily walk on grass/outdoors: Our wedding ceremony will be outdoors + our photos will largely be outside. Stiletto heels on grass while wearing a wedding dress seemed like a recipe for disaster. Block heels were going to be a must must must.

Colorful: I’m happiest when my outfits are bright + colorful. I love my wedding dress + even though you won’t be able to see my shoes under my dress, I wanted to have shoes that would be a fun pop of color. White shoes were never in the running for me.

Versatile: While I’ll only wearing my wedding dress for one day, I knew I wanted my shoes to be versatile enough that I could wear them for years to come on other occasions. I love the idea of wearing my bridal shoes out on future date nights + anniversary celebrations as a sentimental throwback.

Alright, now that I had my criteria, I just had to find my shoes.

Sarah Flint Perfect Block Sandal 60 - dcgirlinpearls.com

Sarah Flint’s Perfect Block Sandal 60 literally checked all of my boxes! I should’ve known. The word “perfect” is literally in the name!

Handcrafted in Italy, the Perfect Block Sandal 60 has a 2.5 inch heel but it feels like you’re higher than that. Other features of this sandal include an expanded toe box, anatomical arch support (ding ding ding, perfect for my #1 criteria!), and 6mm of extra footbed padding. Their inset block heel will also be perfect for walking around on the lawn of our venue.

My exact Perfect Block Sandal 60 colorway isn’t available currently, I scooped them up last week with their warehouse sale. But Sarah Flint offers their Perfect Block Sandal 60 in other colorways, including this gorgeous painted poppy style that would also be beautiful for a bride.

There is also the Perfect Block Sandal 30 that has a one inch heel.

Sarah Flint shoes are on the pricey side but to me, these sandals are an investment in my wardrobe for years to come because the quality is extremely high. And a special treat – you can use my code SARAHFLINT-BALAURENR for $50 off your purchase now!
