J.Crew Factory Merino Wool Turtleneck (So incredibly soft, I’m wearing a size medium. Also love that this turtleneck is a little on the looser side around the neck) // C/O Gold Metallic Eastland Patricia Loafer (Loafers are very comfortable, don’t require any breaking in! This exact pair is on Amazon Prime for $60 on sale) // Talbots Straight Leg White Jeans (My favorite white jeans, not sure why I don’t own another pair!) // Blackwatch Plaid Cape (Old from Tuckernuck but here’s a similar blackwatch plaid blanket scarf for $12 + available on Prime or more plaid cape options for $20) // Tuckernuck Crystal Betty Earrings
Happy 2019, guys!!
It’s the first day of the New Year and I’m sitting on the couch writing this post with Tommy sitting next to me, belting out a Disney tune playing on his Kindle. I’m trying to remember how I managed to focus and do my homework, study for AP exams and the SAT in high school when this was an everyday occurrence 😂
It’s a sweet start to the New Year and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
[Sidebar: After I finished this post and was scrolling through it to check for any typos, I noticed Tommy looking very intently at my screen. I turned to him and he pointed at the screen + said, “It’s Lauren! Inside the computer!” and started laughing hysterically. Leaving my cutie pie to go back to DC is always the hardest. 😍😍😍]
First off, it was raining pretty hard when we were taking these photos so yes, this is me literally smiling while getting pelted with rain drops. If that’s not a metaphor, I don’t know what is!
Styling White Jeans
I’m so glad the whole “no white in winter” is no longer a rule because my white jeans are just too easy to throw on and comfy to wear! Really cannot gush about these jeans any more than I already have. They fit true to size (I have them in a size 8).
Besides the comfort level, styling white jeans in the winter is just a fantastic excuse to bring out your favorite accessories.
Starting with these loafers!
Eastland Patricia Loafers
Eastland sent me a pair of these loafers to check out and they are so so comfortable. There was no breaking-in period and they slipped on easily from the start. The Patricia Loafers fit true to size, I take my normal shoe size in them.
The loafers’ gold metallic color is such a fun and simple way to add some glam to an every day outfit. Jeans + black turtleneck? Okay. Add the gold loafers? Instant glitz! Such an easy step (Yup, the puns are staying in 2019 🙃) to elevate your outfit.
I packed these shoes with me to Arizona and wore them on Christmas Day with my plaid! I also tossed them on to dress up a white tee + faux leather leggings outfit for a day out with my mom. Definitely will get a lot of wear out of these loafers!
Sparkly Statement Earrings
Even though the holiday season is behind us, you gotta keep your sparkly earrings around a bit longer. Winter time can get a little dull without the holiday decorations everywhere so keep your sparkly earrings on hand!
Plaid Cape
DC winter is upon us so the days of wearing my plaid cape as a coat are going to be few and far between. But you better believe on the warmer winter days, I’ll be reaching for my cape. My exact cape is no longer available but Amazon Prime has this $12 blackwatch plaid blanket scarf that you could wear as a shawl. Or try this $20 plaid poncho, it has more pattern options!
How is your New Year going so far?
