Happy Monday!! And we’re back after a perfect, sun-filled Sunday. This weekend was pretty low-key for me, I’m flying home early next Saturday morning so I spent part of the weekend doing my pre-travel deep-clean ritual. There’s just something so wonderful about coming home after a trip to a freshly cleaned home. Saturday afternoon wasn’t the best weather-wise so after brunch, I went on a mimosa-fueled cleaning spree. As one does. I also kept up with my #1 productivity tip and went on a serious podcast binge as I cleaned. Has anyone listened to Unqualified by Anna Faris? It’s hysterical and cracked me up to the point of crying laughing. There’s a chance my neighbors think I’m crazy. Listen to the episodes with Eric Stonestreet, Joel McHale and Lauren Graham, they are fantastic!
I shot a few looks for the blog this week on Sunday and guys, I can already tell this gingham + eyelet skirt outfit is going to be on repeat this summer. I kept this outfit on to run a quick errand to the Whole Foods on H St (Which has been a god-send) and took a wonderfully long walk in the sunshine to Eastern Market for a pink lemonade. I haven’t worn this eyelet midi skirt since last summer, I forgot how much I love this easy, breezy midi skirt. And you really can’t go wrong with a knotted gingham button down. Especially once the humidity kicks in.
This gingham shirt + eyelet skirt outfit is perfect for a winery tour or meeting up with friends for an afternoon drink al fresco. Top off with a classic Panama hat to keep the sun off your face, my hat is currently on sale for $24 but this identical Panama hat is only $15! I wear my Panama hat all the time in the summer whether at the pool or out ‘n about. It’s near the top of my summer must-haves.
Overall, the gingham shirt + eyelet skirt is really easy to throw together at the last-minute. But I think what takes this outfit up a notch and makes it look complete is the bright pink lip. I shared my favorite pink lipsticks the other week and wanted to gush about my new favorite matte lipstick again. I’ve never used any Anastasia beauty product before but heard really great things about their liquid lipstick. I had a $25 gift card and this lipstick is $20 so it was a no-brainer. Guys, I don’t think I’ve loved a lipstick this much before. When it comes to lipsticks, I put mine through the wringer so I need a lip color that has major staying power. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick lasts me all day long through multiple meals and drinks without so much as a smudge. It goes on matte and the color remains bright and vibrant for hours. And it’s only $20!! Stockpile these lipsticks, guys. I mean it. I was a bit hesitant about this Party Pink color since it’s definitely bolder than I usually go with lipsticks but sometimes, you just gotta carpe diem and go with the hot pink.
