A Spring Weekend

This weekend was a dream. After weeks of freezing cold weather, the ability to go outside wearing a light jacket and no big scarf or gloves was really nothing short of magical. My mom and Tommy were still in town this weekend so on Saturday, we all piled into the car and paid a visit to the zoo. Tommy LOVES the zoo and his excitement/giggles/renditions of zoo songs was contagious. We visited the lions (a Tommy favorite) and small mammals but when we checked out the elephants, they were having a day off. Not sure who was more disappointed, Tommy or me. The elephants are a must-see for Tommy, he belts out his favorite Barney song about the elephants and does the cutest impression of an elephant. As for me, I get a kick out of how tiny elephant’s ears are and Tommy’s elephant impression cracks me up every single time. I’m grinning just thinking about it!! Before we get into chatting about this outfit, I have to tell you the funniest thing Tommy said as we were saying goodbye. He was in the car, all set to go. I hugged him and told him how much fun I had with him this week. He smiled and goes, “You’re welcome, Lauren.” 😂😂😂

Sunday was appropriately rainy since my mom and Tommy headed back home in the morning. After a week together, it’s always an adjustment to not having them hanging out when I come home. Bright colors are my favorite way to cheer up so I was excited to break out my pink trench coat for the first time this season. It’s lined with a fun plaid print, making it extra cozy for those windy days in early spring. Yup, I know it’s still February and it’s gonna drop back into the 40s this week but I’m declaring it early spring. Because winter and I are officially over. Probably my favorite part about this pink trench coat is that I found it at a Goodwill in Arlington!!! Getting a great bargain just makes me love an item even more. If you live in the DC area, I’m a big fan of the Goodwill on S. Glebe Road. You have to do some digging and it’s hit or miss but I’ve found some amazing treasures there, like this pink trench coat and a NWT Brooks Brothers navy sheath. Donate old clothes and browse the shelves. It’s a win-win!

Lately, I’ve been pretty much living in this J.Crew Factory stripe shirt. Incredibly comfy, check. Striped, check. Pretty much my major requirements. Oh, and I can wear it to work with a pencil skirt and my navy heels. Happy closet, happy wallet.
