You might have noticed things have been p-r-e-t-t-y quiet over here lately. Funny enough, it’s not for a lack of content ideas (Though that’s certainly been a struggle at times, sometimes the creativity just isn’t there), but rather a lack of time. Most of my weekdays go a little something like this:
- Wake up
- Shower and get ready for work
- Work
- Barre
- Dinner
- Work on blog (Write posts, tweak content calendar, catch up on emails)
- Read about 2 pages before falling asleep
The vast majority of work on my blog happens on the weekends. Typically, Saturday is my “fun” day where I hang out with friends, go to a barre class and unwind from the week. I also try to do my grocery shopping that day and prep my outfits and recipe/cocktail posts for the next day. Sunday is Blog Day. Yup, it necessitates all-caps.
On Sundays, we blog. I typically meet up with my friend Abby, who is my Instagram partner, to shoot outfits for the upcoming weeks. We shoot typically about 3 outfits and let me tell you, shooting outfit photos is probably the best exercise in not caring about what other people think. You’re well aware of how ridiculous you seem and other people are walking by so all you can do is simply not care. It helps being friends with Abby because in between shots we’ll make jokes about what we’re doing. Like, how natural it is to just casually be twirling in front of a mural. As one does. NBD.
Once we split up, I go back to my apartment to shoot the recipe and cocktail posts for the week. If it’s a more involved recipe, I’ll try to prep as much of it as I can the night before or the morning before outfit photos. I have a super fancy schmancy photography set-up on my dining table/desk that I use to shoot these posts, thank goodness my apartment gets natural light! Once I get both of those shot, I’ll clean up and get down to editing the pictures. Once editing is done, I’ll start writing the posts for the week and scheduling content for Twitter, FB and Instagram.
Basically, I try to get as much blog work done on Sunday as humanly possible because the week can be a funny thing. I’ve tried before to tell myself “Oh, it’s okay. You can shoot the cocktail post on Wednesday morning or evening and it’ll work out.” But then the lighting will be bad in the morning and I might not even get home in time in the evening to catch the natural light. Sometimes, everything falls into place and it all works out. But it’s not guaranteed.
The last few weekends have not been Sunday Blog Days. Last weekend, I was getting ready to watch one of my best college friends be all grown-up and get married and the weekend before, I was hanging out with my brother Tommy (aka Cutie Pie). I felt kinda guilty about not having content up on the blog but I wouldn’t have traded the last 2 weekends for anything. I love my blog and I love creating content and seeing your comments, it honestly makes my day brighter. But family and friends come first. So that’s why the last few weeks have been crickets over here.
Tomorrow, I’m shipping off to Annapolis to see the Navy game with my friends and even my dad! He’s in town to see the Bills’ season opener against the Ravens on Sunday. It’s going to be a lot o’ football this weekend, guys. But you can bet Sunday I’ll be at my dining table/desk/impromptu photo setup working hard. I’ve got some fun content on the calendar that I am pretty excited about. Andddd….my blog redesign is getting so so close to being done, I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.
Okay that’s enough rambling. Have a great weekend!! I’ll be around on Instagram and always on Snapchat (Lauren_Anne2989) so I’ll see you there?

I think I read about 2 pages before passing out, too! I feel like such an old lady lol so I read during the day on the weekends. Totally get the busyness thing – glad you’re still here!

I used to be able to read 50 pages before bed easily! Now I’ve woken up with the book over my face more than once…
P.S. Keep up the awesome Snapchats, I always like seeing what you’re cooking!
LOL! I don’t even get that far ha it’s so sad! And thank you!! That means a lot! Love your snaps too – especially your food/drinks!
I am still trying to get comfortable taking pictures in public. I HATE when people stare, but I know I shouldn’t care. My boyfriend is my “photographer” and we just end up cracking up between every photo because we feel so silly haha
That’s honestly the best way to feel comfortable: having a “photographer” who doesn’t take it too seriously either! My friend Abby and I always make jokes when I have to do crazy poses and joke about how “natural and normal” it is! The silly photos end up being the best ones : )
