A delicious Trader Joe’s hack to create a refreshing watermelon mojito cocktail!
Happy Wednesday! I flew back to DC from my week-long vacation in Arizona on Sunday night so still adjusting to that 3 hour time difference. I swear, time changes always hit me so hard.
Per DC’s rules, I’ve been officially in quarantine since I arrived and will be for the next two weeks. So I’m doing my best to get creative with pulling together meals from my pantry and freezer – but a girl needs a cocktail.
Being stuck in my apartment in quarantine seemed like a perfect time to share with you my absolute favorite hack to create a delicious cocktail without any fancy ingredients.
Are you ready for this?
I’ll give you a minute to emotionally prepare.
JAM.
Jam, jelly, fruit spread. However it’s labelled, that’s one of my best cocktail hacks when you either don’t have the ingredients or time to create a simple syrup.
I’ve used this cocktail hack countless times in a pinch to infuse some extra flavor and zip. If you’ve got a cocktail shaker and a jar of jam, you’re in business.
Ingredients (Serving size: 1 drink)
Fresh mint leaves
1.5 oz rum (1 shot)
Splash of lime juice
Spoonful of TJ’s watermelon fruit spread (You can substitute seedless strawberry jelly)
Ice
Trader Joe’s Sparkling Watermelon Juice
Directions
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the fresh mint leaves with rum and lime juice. (Tip: Roll the lime a few times before you cut into it to loosen it up)
- Add ice and spoonful of jelly/jam/fruit spread.
- Shake vigorously + strain into glass with ice.
- Garnish with mint (optional)
- Cheers!!
