Delving into the burning (but not sunburned) question of the summer – do you think Trader Joe’s facial sunscreen is a Supergoop dupe?
I’ve long said that Trader Joe’s skincare section has some real hidden gems – their tea tree oil face wash has been my go-to for more than a decade, my love of Trader Joe’s marula oil knows no limits, and Trader Joe’s Retinol Night Serum packs a solid punch for $10.
Their overnight watermelon sleeping mask has been rumored to be a dupe for a much higher end version so I wasn’t that surprised when I heard another rumor about a Trader Joe’s dupe. This time, it was their new $9 facial sunscreen that was a near match to Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen.
I’ve used Supergoop’s Glowscreen before and I always apply SPF before I leave the house each morning. A few summers ago, I started using Glowscreen on days or evenings when I was heading out to a social event and I loved the dewy glow it gave me. A little bit went a long way, which was great because each tube cost $36.
Trying Out Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen
Combining two of my great passions, Trader Joe’s and sun protection, was a pretty easy sell to get me through the doors of my friendly neighborhood TJ’s. I was lucky to find it in stock and picked up two tubes because I had a hunch it was going to live up to the hype.
I wanted to give it a whirl for a few weeks before I gave my two cents to make sure it was as good as the internet claims. I’ve been using this sunscreen nearly every day and I cannot emphasize this enough:

After I wash my face in the morning, I apply the sunscreen (about a pea-sized amount) all over my face, neck, and hands. It’s really impressive how much coverage you get from it! The sunscreen absorbs quite quickly, there is zero white cast, and also provides an excellent matte finish that works perfectly as a makeup primer. It seems TJ’s hasn’t been able to keep this sunscreen on the shelves because it’s that good! So if you spot this tube, grab one. Your skincare will thank you!
