{This Week’s Favorites}

This week gave me plenty to smile about but here are the cream of the crop, in no particular order:

Sephora

I accepted a fact this week that every woman has to come to grips with: my very favorite eyeliner that had been discontinued was dangerously low and needed to be replaced. Still partially in denial, I took my eyeliner to Sephora in Georgetown and asked for a color as close as possible to the old liner and at a reasonable price, under $20. The lady quickly (read: in under 20 seconds) found and applied a shade. I opened my eyes & was pleasantly surprised to find there was absolutely no difference between the old and new. I was even happier when I saw the label: Make Up For Ever quickly became a favorite beauty brand of mine last summer {when I started using their foundation and concealer}. I no longer feel sad about the loss of a great eyeliner because I have this baby all ready to go! For the record, I actually use dry eyeshadow applied with a brush as eyeliner.

Bath & Body Works Ribbon Candy Handsoap

I just opened this soap and I love the scent because it’s sweet without being too strong, plus  the mere idea of “Ribbon Candy” is so happy!

Chai Tea

Did you really think I could write this post without at least one mention of Trader Joe’s? I wrote about their {spicy chai lattes a little over a month ago} but I’ll be honest, I’ve been so on the go lately, I really haven’t had a chai in forever! This week, I was just not feeling like myself so I decided to stop, make myself a chai latte, sit down and do absolutely nothing. It was a glorious 20 minutes unplugged from my iPhone, laptop and my ever-ticking mind. I’m trying to get more in the habit of taking this Zen moment to stop and smell the chai.

Blogs (And Blogging)

Not to play favorites but I think this ranks as my FAVORITE part of the week. I love my blog and I am so happy I took a leap of faith to put myself out there in the blogosphere. However, sometimes I get so caught up in juggling my posts and my non-blog life that I forget about the blogging community. I have a Bookmark of my daily blog reads (if I can get my Blogroll widget on WordPress to work, I will post what I read) and I interact with other bloggers on a daily basis. This week, though, I promised myself I would start to become more active in the blog community by leaving comments on other blogs. I love getting comments on my posts because I want to know what you’re all thinking and what you love or dislike. So I dove into blog karma and started commenting regularly. And you know what? I discovered new blogs that are now in my Blog Bookmark. Seriously, I wish we could have a huge convention to meet other bloggers! After a year and four months of blogging, I feel I am finally hitting my stride and am excited about passing a milestone: DC Girl in Pearls has had 50,000+ Overall Page Views!!!!

What made you smile this week?
