I have been in such a brunching mood lately, I honestly cannot even begin to express how much I desperately want to go out to a weekend brunch. However, my budget’s a little tight until I get paid on Sept. 30th (T minus 2 weeks!!!) so my brunching desire is on the back burner for right now. However, I’ve been really really wanting a Bloody Mary lately. I’m surprised my friends haven’t killed me about it: I think I talked about a Bloody Mary for 20 minutes straight.
So, I’m dedicating this Thirsty Thursday to the Bloody Mary, even though Bloody Mary is traditionally a brunch drink and not a “night on the town” beverage. Known as the “world’s most complicated cocktail,” the Bloody Mary has gained the reputation of a cocktail that cures hangovers. I’ll leave you to judge that one.
Here is the recipe, although the Bloody Mary is a drink best left to the pros:
Ingredients:
- 3 oz tomato juice
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1 dash of Worcestershire sauce
- celery salt
- ground pepper
- hot pepper sauce to taste
- celery stalk and/or pickle spear for garnish
- lemon and/or lime wedge for garnish
Preparation:
- Build the liquid ingredients in a highball glass over ice cubes.
- Mix well.
- Add the seasonings to taste.
- Garnish with the lemon and/or lime wedge and celery stalk.
