Sharing my Supergoop Vitamin C Serum review – aka how I ditched wearing CC cream/foundation!
I never thought I would be someone who could walk out of the house without CC cream or foundation. I’ve been wearing foundation since I started regularly wearing makeup. The only time I’d be barefaced was when I was heading to a workout of on the weekend when I didn’t have plans to meet up with people. As much as I wanted to feel comfortable going barefaced, I just didn’t.
(For the record, this is not a post bashing CC creams or foundations. I still have mine ready to go in case I’m feeling like it’s a CC cream day + I love that my go-to CC cream for years has SPF. More on SPF later.)
I relied on CC cream or foundation to buff out blemishes as well as the larger, noticeable pores that dotted my cheeks and nose. Along with a touch of rosacea on my cheeks, those larger pore areas have been my battleground for years. I don’t have issues with other pores on my face but that area has eluded me for as long as I can remember.
Back in 2020 when work suddenly became remote, I decided to ditch wearing makeup every day. I mean, who was I trying to impress? Funny enough, I broke out terribly in those first few days. It was like the foundation had been bottling back all the craziness! Once I got over that, I still kept up with my regular SPF routine.
I had heard great things about adding a Vitamin C serum to your skincare routine + my interest was piqued. When Beautycounter launched their Vitamin C serum, I signed up right away. I love their Overnight Resurfacing Peel + was excited for its daytime partner. But unfortunately, I didn’t see any noticeable difference at all.
Summer 2020, I became a Supergoop Glowscreen devotee. At first I was kicking myself a little bit – I’m paying how much for a somewhat little tube of sunscreen?! But it didn’t take long for me to realize just how incredible Glowscreen makes your skin look and keeps it protected from the sun. I wear Glowscreen regularly now, year-round. And Glowscreen became my gateway product into Supergoop’s line. So when I saw they had a Vitamin C serum, I knew I had to try it!
When I picked it up from my local Sephora, I mean literally picked it up, I was skeptical. It felt light as air! But, emboldened by Sephora’s return policy, I decided to give it a whirl + I am not looking back.
My Problem Areas
Like I said, I was looking for my Vitamin C serum to help shrink the size of the pores on my cheeks + reduce the redness. Anything else would just be a bonus.
How To Use
I use Supergoop Vitamin C Serum every.single.day. I’m a very big believer in making sure SPF is part of your daily routine year-round. In the mornings, I wash my face, apply Beautycounter’s Essence (it’s like a toner in that it preps your skin to better absorb any serums, plus it has an amazing scent), and then use 2 pumps of the Vitamin C Serum. I’ve been using it for close to 4 months + it’s still going strong. There is a very slight white cast after you apply the product so I typically like to put it on about 15-20 minutes before I’m heading out the door.
Like all Supergoop products, this serum contains SPF 40 sunscreen. Talk about a workhorse product!
My Results
After about a month of consistently using the Vitamin C serum, I suddenly realized that the large pores on my cheeks were virtually gone. I was shocked!!! My goal had been to reduce their size, I honestly didn’t think getting them to disappear was feasible.
For that result alone, I will continue to use Supergoop Vitamin C serum + sing its praises from every rooftop.
This serum also lived up to its promise to be like a lightbulb for your face + brighten up your skin. It’s noticeable from your very first use.
A Sun-burst of Confidence
Really, this is more about how using Vitamin C serum gave me the confidence I needed to go barefaced. I haven’t worn CC cream or foundation to work since my office re-opened + I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I do still use concealer for my (genetic) dark undereye circles.
Supergoop Vitamin C Serum is worth the price tag – it’s long-lasting since a little bit goes a long way + it gave me the sunshine-filled boost I needed.
