Stripe Tank Dress (Option 1 and Option 2 // Panama Hat // Gold Jacks // Aviators
Oh hey, remember me? I’m the girl who jetted off to Phoenix for a week and left you high and dry 😳 But it was for a good reason: I spent the last week hanging with my parents, blowing bubbles with Tommy (Who told me he was proud of my bubble-blowing skills 💁), visiting family, hiking in Sedona, had a psychic reading, not wearing any makeup, working on a tan, and feasting on all the tacos I could get my hands on. Which brings us to this dress. It’s from Vineyard Vines circa 2014 but I’ve linked a few similar options. Let me tell you, I’ve gotten some serious mileage out of this stripe tank dress. Surprisingly, it was last on the blog here back in 2015 but in the summer, I think I wear it about once a week. It’s breezy for the DC humidity, soft enough to make you feel like you’re getting away with wearing PJs in public (!!!) AND it’s incredibly forgiving when you’re like me and have never met a taco you didn’t like. So, naturally, it was the very first thing I tossed into my suitcase for my trip to the desert.
After years working outdoors as a lifeguard, I tan pretty well but without fail, no matter how much sunscreen I put on, my nose and cheekbones always get a little red. The solution: Add a hat (along with serious sunblock). I lived in this Panama hat from lounging by the pool to dining al fresco. I refused to come back to DC looking like a lobster and I’m proud to say I succeeded. This hat made me feel like my outfits were complete, even the most casual (cough white tee and shorts cough) so expect to see this hat make a number of appearances here on the blog and my Instagram. And now that I’m thinking of it, are we Snapchat friends? Let’s get on that. 👻 Lauren_Anne2989
The finishing touches for this outfit are a chunky turquoise necklace because hey, I was in the Southwest, gotta load up on the turquoise!! And of course, I slipped into my Jacks because it’s not a vacation without my Jacks.
Oh, and can we ooh and aah over this gorgeous bougainvillea?!?! It was EVERYWHERE and I couldn’t get enough of it.
