Greetings from Arizona! I know, the photo above is pretty misleading but it’s too pretty not to share again.
2022 has been a big year in my life. New chapters starting, chapters ending. It’s all been very positive and I’m excited to share more with you soon! I would say that I’m closing out 2022 with a grateful heart. With these big changes happening in my offline life, posting here has certainly fallen by the wayside. I have a backlog of post ideas and outlines of topics I want to chat about but I am quite optimistic that I’ll be able to finally get back into the swing of regularly sharing content. My current goal is to post here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
If there is a topic you’d like to read about here, I am all ears! I always really appreciate the feedback you all give me, it’s so helpful in making sure I’m writing what you’d enjoy reading.
I’m keeping today’s post short and sweet so I can get started on Wednesday’s post (it’ll be a doozy!). But I wanted to leave you with a reading suggestion. On my flight from DC to Arizona, I could not put down this book called The Power of Fun by Catherine Price. While this year has been an amazing one, it’s probably also been one of the most stressful in my life.
The Power of Fun talks about the importance and necessity of letting go and allowing yourself to have fun like you did when you were a carefree kid. This book felt like a giant permission slip to embrace your silly side. I only put this book down to frantically type out fun activities I’d like to add to my life as they popped into my head. Waterslides, finally taking a Milkbar baking class, getting back into swimming, visiting museums, you get the idea.
As someone who takes their job seriously (but I don’t take myself seriously, that was a piece of advice I received early into my career), adding fun, even “microdoses” of fun, into my day sounds like just what the doctor ordered. And as we head into the crazy, hectic holiday season, I highly recommend taking the time to read this book (it’s also available on the Libby app for my fellow DC Library enthusiasts!) and giving yourself permission to add fun to your every day.
Fair warning – I’ll likely talk about this book in-depth more over here in the near future. Happy Monday! ????
